Our Certification team within Business Area Wind is looking for a Certification Engineer in Operation and Maintenance (O&M). The purpose of certification is to ensure that Vattenfall's offshore portfolio is planned, developed, operated, and certified according to state-of-the-art industry practice and national standards. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out all project management activities needed to meet this purpose.

Job Description

As our colleague, you will be responsible for a smooth in-service certification process within your assigned offshore wind farms, Sandbank and DanTysk. Together with a colleague, you will to ensure they are operated in compliance with regulations. The following tasks will be a central part of your new job:

  • Manage the range of O&M certification tasks according to German regulations as integrated part of operations.
  • Keep the certification scope and strategy updated in a changing regulatory environment.
  • Steer tasks and activities across asset management, consenting, operations and engineering, always focusing on cost, quality & risk management.
  • Ensure timely reporting towards the authorities as well as follow up on requirements and closure of conditions.
  • Participation in authority meetings and stakeholder associations.
  • Lead the technical and commercial negotiations with the appointed inspector as well as certification bodies and service providers. Ensure certification requirements are anchored within commercial agreements and contracts and delivered accordingly.
  • Work alongside Certification Engineers across European wind projects to harmonize way of working in field of certification and to utilization of best practice.
  • Contribute to the Certification Team’s improvement of procedures and tools in line with the BA Wind quality management system.

Qualifications

You have a positive mindset combined with the drive to deliver quality work using pragmatic and solution-oriented approaches. You are a technical allrounder and an open-minded team player with a structured way of working. You are capable of both maintaining the helicopter perspective, but also deep-dive into details as required. You show initiative and add value by maturing and standardizing our work depending on projects and organizational needs. Additionally, you possess good interpersonal skills and can abstract and communicate technically complex topics in a clear and constructive way both internally and to external partners. The following experience and skills are favored:

  • University degree in Engineering or similar field.
  • Broad technical understanding, preferably first experience within offshore wind or related industry. 
  • Proven project management skills and the ability communicate clearly and navigate within a multicultural work environment;
  • Experience in managing independent certification bodies;
  • Knowledgeable of certification in offshore wind projects, as well as related codes & standards, especially BSH standard, WSV guideline but also IEC 64100 and IECRE OD series, DNV GL standards, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and capability of understanding and interpretation of regulations and engineering problems.
  • Motivated to work in multinational teams and the ability to build up strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Fluent in German and English.

Location
The position is located in our office in Hamburg. Occasional travel within northern Europe should be expected.
