Business Unit Offshore is responsible to manage and operate all Offshore wind parks as well as Offshore wind projects with regards to development, construction and execution within the Region Continental/UK.

 

Job Description

Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position as Head of Construction & Installation reporting to the Head of Offshore Project Execution, within Project Delivery & Engineering in Business Area Wind.

Within BU Offshore, Project Delivery & Engineering is responsible for the maturation and execution of our construction projects. Our vision is to be one step ahead of competition in safely constructing next generation offshore wind farms while deploying our knowledge already during the planning and contracting phases in order to secure successful project delivery.

As Project Delivery & Engineering, we are in the centre of making a fossil-free future become reality by delivering some of the largest infrastructure projects in the world safely, timely, of high quality and within budget in a complex and dynamic environment.

What will you do?

The Head of Construction & Installation is responsible for Construction and Installation of all Vattenfall Offshore Windfarms.

The Construction and Installation team supports Vattenfall’s asset projects from the early Market Screening Phase (TG0) through the Project Construction and conclusion phases (TG3 to TG5) in all fields of construction and installation.

In addition the team supports bid development projects and tenders with input on construction and installation technologies in order to deliver faster and more accurate bids.

     Key responsibilities and mandate         

The Head of Construction & Installation is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Drive Construction & Installation expertise from early project phases (TG0) to handover to operation (TG5).
  • Combine a wide range of marine & engineering competences, deep-dives on the availability & suitability of T&I vessels to provide data for decisions on logistics suppliers.
  • Working closely together with the Engineering Package Managers, T&I Pro Portfolio Director & T&I Engineers.
  • Bundle the expertise of the Installation Manager roles, which interface closely with the various package managers to deliver the installation within time and budget for each package.

                  

Key deliverables and activities

Strategy and growth

The Head of Construction & Installation drives the strategy of the department and the development of future Construction & installation technologies and methods. This encompasses developing and implementing the strategic plan for the team that aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the BU and the organisation as a whole. 

Leadership

The Head of Construction & Installation leads the team in the installation of projects and ensures all projects are installed safely and to the highest standards of quality to position Vattenfall strategically on the market. The Head of Construction & Installation collaborates with the rest of the functions within Project Execution, as well as other functions across the whole business from early development phases until construction is finalized

Personnel management

The Head of Construction & Installation ensures that the team is set up optimally and continues to develop and that there is adequate manpower, in terms of both quantity and quality, so that the current and future objectives can be realised. The  Head of Construction & Installation manages the day-to-day operations of the Construction & Installation department, including project management, budgeting, staffing and performance management.

Qualifications

Required education and work experience

  • Master degree in a relevant field is desirable
  • 10+ years of experience leadership experience in operating large and international renewable energy fleet
  • At least 7+ years in a similar management position
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large and international teams, driving a performance culture and development of key skills and knowledge
  • Highly motivated, inspiring and communicative leader
  • Team player
  • Experience of implementing successful changes in an operational and highly dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven skilled in dealing with strategic, highly complex issues and problem/ conflict handling
  • Proven track record in technical and commercial asset management, energy production and optimizing performance
  • Health and safety as the highest priority
  • Fluent in English

 

Additional Information

Location

The location of this position is flexible, preferably in Kolding, Amsterdam or Hamburg. Depending on the location of our upcoming projects, a large extent of business travels can be required.
