Job Description

Position Summary:

The Component Competitive Intelligence Professional will be a member of the Global Hardware Team and will be responsible for continuous monitoring of competitors, suppliers, and industry trends in the consumer electronics industry and the CPE industries with respect to electrical and mechanical components and deciphering the strategic moves of competitors and their suppliers, with specific emphasis on the Chinese components and design Market.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Vantiva’s products and the electrical and mechanical components used in them, being able to effectively evaluate high level specifications and be able to compare and contrast specifications and requirements.
  • Surveying the general marketplace for components used in our devices and keeping up with trends in the industry, new parts, and new suppliers.
  • Create a network of contacts in the industry
  • Monitoring competitors' product launches, partnerships, and technological advancements and component selection
  • Identify new potential suppliers for various types of electrical and/or mechanical components.
  • Track the patent filings of suppliers and competitors and analyze them to assess merging trends in the CPE industry.
  • Proactively conduct in-depth market research and analyze data related to customers, competitors, suppliers, and market trends, identifying potential opportunities for new components and/or suppliers
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive library of supplier information and components.
  • Take the lead in monitoring industry news, press releases, and other pertinent sources to pinpoint significant developments and trends.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings to the Hardware organization and Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality, sourcing and operations, to provide valuable insights and support business decision-making processes.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of competitive intelligence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business, or equivalent degree
  • 5-10 years relevant experience, in component engineering, commodity management, competitive analysis or similar roles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Beneficial to already have some network of contacts in the industry
  • General understanding of electrical and mechanical components used in typical consumer electronics products.
  • Some travel, both domestic and international, may be required.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (oral + written).
