Job Description

Provide assignment(s), performance feedback and follow up to the maintenance team.

Assess shift staffing needs.

Provide direction to the facility to develop a preventative maintenance schedule.

Provide support and training through maintenance team to machine line operators.

Serve as primary communicator of maintenance issues.

Exercise fiscal awareness in terms of budget constraints.

Has a lead role in part of the development and compliance of maintenance programs & projects.

Accountable for part inventories utilized by the maintenance team.

Supervises shift maintenance associates, ensuring that all facility functions are carried out in a manner which is safe, and complies with all company, state, and federal mandates.

Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all shift incident reporting.

Provide direction to ensure the operations and maintenance areas are maintained within the established housekeeping guidelines.

Responsible for enforcing all Good Manufacturing Practices, Facility Security, and Facility work rules for those individuals engaged in activities within the maintenance operation.

Provide recommendations on ways to improve efficiencies, eliminating unnecessary departmental downtime.

Provide expertise on equipment changes, and facility capital projects.

Design projects related to packaging & distribution, including improvement of existing equipment and installation of new machinery.

Manage the day-to-day tasks done by contractors.

Suggest technical and operational improvements.

Write standard operating procedures and visual work instructions.

Update facility drawings utilizing AutoCAD software tools.

Responsible for participating in the health & safety management system.

Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety and always set a proper example.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Must hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent work experience. A Bachelor of Science degree preferred. However, experience may be substituted in lieu of education with approval based on the quality of the experience relating to this area. A minimum of three (3) years prior management experience in distribution or a related field. Candidate must have good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical degree or college course work preferred.

Project management and Process control experience.

Six sigma or other lean manufacturing experience preferred.

Must be able to write lockout procedures.

Ability to work and understand technical manuals/jargon associated with all maintenance system(s) operation, adjustment, and repair.

Ability to comprehend facility blueprints and schematics.

Applied knowledge of tools/instruments/maintenance equipment.

Applied Knowledge of Industrial Electrical services.

Strong computer and project coordination skills.

Ability to work well with all levels of staff and management as well as with outside clients and vendors.

Must be able to prioritize tasks in the face of conflicting priorities.
