Job Description

VIE CONTRACT ONLY - POSITION BASED IN US (Atlanta, GA, US)

The Global Component Engineer is a member of the Category Management Team – working directly with the Global Category Manager (GCM) in developing category strategy, identifying preferred suppliers, risk planning/management, identifying preferred components and technologies – being the Category technology subject matter expert (SME).   As the Category Technology leader, the GCE will collaborate directly with our Development Engineering sites around the world, sharing knowledge; balancing component performance, quality, reliability, and cost.

The Global Component Engineer will also manage:

  • Component Codification: aligning part request efficiency with preferred technology use to assure quality and system data requirements in line with New Project Develop milestones and documentation requirements
  • Component Qualification: qualifying supplier parts in a timely manner to meet performance (quality, reliability, form, fit, function) requirements while meeting preferred supplier and dual sourcing goals in line with project and category requirements/milestones.  Component Sustainability: During component qualification, sustainability (environmental) data will be collected, reviewed, tracked, and stored.
  • Component Technology: Be the technology expert by maintaining effective commodity qualification data packages and supporting R&D and Sourcing with technology excellence, preferred technologies and suppliers
  • Component Risk Management: Manage risk by maintaining and communicate proactive technology/supplier risk matrix and managing reactive component quality alerts, as well as managing PCN-EOLs, Part Change Notices & End of life from the suppliers.
  • Component Cost Management: As a Member of Category Team support the GCM in Preferred Supplier and Component Selection and management
  • Project Support: Review new Projects with Project Sourcing Managers to assure preferred Technology and Supplier use – and assist with cost reduction and dual sourcing actions.​

 

Qualifications

  • Bac + 4 or master in Engineering, University degree as an Electrical Engineer, Physics​
  • Min 2 years professional experience in electronic or electrical-mechanical engineering. An experience in procurement and category management for electronics or electrical-mechanical is a plus. 
  • Ability to be in relation with multiple interlocutors, internal and external in an international context,
  • Structured problem-solving skills (green belt or black belt preferred) & strong analytic skills in business case and scenario planning
  • Ability to communicate in a synthetic manner to limit time spent, relevant management decisions;
  • Curiosity: adapt to technology evolution; maintain relevance;
  • Ability to think out of the box, challenge the status quo.
