Job Description

This Senior Power Supply Engineer position will be part of the Cable Broadband Engineering Team in Beijing. He/She will be responsible for AC-DC/DC-DC power module engineering of Gateway product for Global and North America Region. The ideal candidate is to own the PSU design,verification,quality and cost for the whole life cycle. This position will be in the Beijing area.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the PSU specification and monitor product design quality and cost.
  • Be involved early in the design process and define, based on customer spec, the appropriate PSU requirements.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Hardware Architecture team and the Hardware Design team to make the right trade-offs between AC-DC PSU requirements and requirements for the on-board DC-DC converters.
  • Translate the PSU requirements in technical requirements towards PSU vendors.
  • Manage, rationalize and optimize the portfolio of power supplies used for Technicolor's cable portfolio.
  • Be in charge of the day-to-day management of PSU projects: planning, execution, tracking and final approval.
  • Follow-up regulatory standards that affect power supply design and compliancy.
  • Closely track evolutions from PSU vendors in order to be up-to-date and follow the latest market trends.
  • Have a forward-looking mindset, anticipate new PSU technologies and incorporate them in Technicolor design
  • Put firm processes in place for managing PSU projects and supplier management.
  • Manage the project according to PjM best practices (including risk management) and company behaviour.
  • Define and follow-up on process improvements and KPIs by means of monthly/quarterly review meetings with PSU suppliers

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years’ experience in hands-on AC-DC and/or DC/DC power supply design.
  • Knowledge of battery technologies is a strong plus.
  • Good knowledge of applicable standards (Safety, ErP, CoC).
  • Strong knowledge on regulatory and certification aspects related to power supplies(EMC, EMI, ESD, safety, power consumption and efficiency, …).
  • Experience in managing an external ODM-partner or major component sub-contractor is a strong plus.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Must work well in a team environment, as well as effectively on their own with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills in English
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Language: Fluent in Mandarin and English (oral + written)
  • Other: Willing to travel to China/Taiwan for short periods
