Job Description

The Stope Serviceman is responsible to work in the operational stopes and development ends to maintain machinery and equipment for production.

 The focus for this role will be to:

  • Performing necessary maintenance and repair work on equipment and defective units as well as maintenance actions
  • Ensuring that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
  • Requesting equipment and stock requisitions required
  • Completion of job cards 
  • Completing and signing off allocated work orders
  • Reporting any malfunctioning to Engineering Foreman/Artisan 
  • Complying with maintenance/breakdown schedules
  • Complying with Operational Risk Management Programme - (A1 Safety)
  • Compiling accurate shift and work order reports
  • Compiling safety, injury, risk and incident reports
  • Assisting during breakdowns or emergencies

This role is in the Engineering Department at a C1 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Science subjects or N2 (4 Subjects - Trade specific)
  • Certified Competent as a Stope Serviceman (UG hard rock)
  • Electrical trade qualification is an advantage

Experience required

  • 18 months’ previous experience as Engineering Repair person / Assistant Multi Discipline
  • Experience as a Stope Serviceman would be an advantage
