Job Description

Summary/Objective:  The Quality Control Testing and Release Supervisor ensures that all products meet rigorous quality, safety, and regulatory standards before reaching the market. This role involves overseeing the testing process, managing product releases, investigating any deviations, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations. Additionally, the specialist will lead investigations into testing issues and manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) to address and prevent recurring problems.

•    Supervise QC Team members responsible for sampling, submission, filing, and reporting of product testing. 
•    Review testing of foods and dietary supplements, ensuring they meet required specifications and regulatory requirements (e.g., identity, strength, purity, and composition).
•    Liaise with key stakeholders, including production, partnership, and regulatory teams, to provide status updates on product testing, material review, and release timelines.
•    Oversee the release process for finished dietary supplement products, ensuring they meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP, NSF, etc.).
•    Collaborate with planning, production, packaging, and logistics teams to ensure timely and compliant product releases.
•    Perform root cause analysis for quality issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
•    Ensure proper documentation and reporting of investigations, deviations, corrective actions, and preventive measures to maintain product integrity and compliance.
•    With cross functional team, develop and implement ERP testing integration with third party labs
•    Ability to work weekends and overtime
•    Comply with Valentine Attendance Policy as defined by the Valentine Employee Handbook.  This includes arriving on-time for schedule shifts, being reliable and professional.
Non-essential functions:
•    Gathering and/or sending of customer requested documents
•    Build and expand knowledge base of Quality and Testing
•    Provide informational support to internal teams regarding COA and/or testing status
•    Communicate and correspond in a clear, concise and professional manner

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. Certifications in quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, HACCP) are a plus.
•    3+ years of experience in quality control testing, material review, product release, CAPA management, or regulatory compliance within the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical industry.
•    Basic computer skills
•    Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
•    Capacity to learn

•    Good interpersonal skills
•    Function as part of a team
•    Good Time Management skills 
•    Ability to work and stay on task with little supervision

Work Environment
This job operates in an Office, a Laboratory and a Food Manufacturing environment. This position uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make comprehensive notes.  May involve a large volume of such composition.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee will occasionally, lift and carry up to 15 pounds, stand, and use routine hearing ability.  Employee will frequently use fingers, and is expected to walk occasionally throughout the facility.  

Employee will sit for extended periods of time, and use well-developed coordination simultaneously, read with attention to detail, and seeing activities near and far.  

Additionally, employee should be able to distinguish basic colors, shades of color as well as should possess a discriminating sense of both taste and smell.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, slippery or uneven walk surfaces.  Employee could frequently experience unusual fatigue factors and eye strain.  Employee will work closely with others most of the time but occasionally will work alone
 

Must be able to work on site at our Lawrenceville, GA facility.  Remote and or Hybrid not available for this position.
