In addition, VEI staffs a full product development lab that excels in flavor profiles and custom formulation, making each product precise and unique.

Job Description

Summary/Objective:  Responsible for supervising the day to day activities of team members employed to work in receiving and the warehouse at Valentine Enterprises, Inc., to ensure operations run seamlessly, while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to VEI’s policies and procedures. 
 
Essential Functions :  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 
•    Serve as a supervisor over the warehouse operations across both shifts; train, provide direction, guidance and discipline assigned staff in accordance with the Valentine Employee Handbook; prioritize work assignments 
•    Use the Deacom ERP system daily to assist in pulling materials, staging pulled orders and ensuring warehouse staff is pulling correct materials
•    Communicate with Purchasing & Planning to report delivery of materials 
•    Interact with Planning, Blending, & Filling (in person and via email) to review the schedule and ensure materials are pulled in a timely manner to keep production running
•    Interact with customers, auditors, or other outside individuals as necessary 
•    Support manager to ensure that all personnel are trained and documented according to VEI SOP’s 
•    Have a continuous improvement mindset and identify areas for improvements in safety, quality, service and productivity 
•    Communicate all work-related records such as attendance and employee assessments to management 
•    Consolidate and maintain daily housekeeping including allergen segregation of ingredients
•    Comply with all safety and SOP procedures 
•    Operate a forklift  
•    Available to work overtime including weekends 
 
Non-essential functions 
•    Perform forklift inspection checklist, add water as needed 
•    Be a subject matter expert in warehousing operations

Work Environment 
This job operates in a manufacturing, warehouse environment. This role routinely uses various lift devices, standard office equipment such as computers, calculators, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
 

Qualifications

Essential Functions Cognitive (Reasoning) :  Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, visual, or schedule form. 
 
Essential Functions Mathematics :  Make arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages. 
 
Essential Functions Communication (Speech & Composition) :  Expression of a level to communicate in English verbally with clients/customers and others to obtain and provide basic information.  Able to communicate by telephone.  Capable of explaining routine policies and of properly referring more complex cases.  Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make comprehensive notes.  May involve a large volume of such composition. 
 
Physical Demands :  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
 
Employee will frequently push, reach over shoulder, and use well developed coordination simultaneously.  Employee will continuously lift and carry up to 50 pounds, use straight pulling and pulling hand over hand, walk, stand, repeatedly bend, operate a motor driven vehicle, read English with attention to detail, seeing activities near and far, use peripheral vision, be able to distinguish basic colors and shades and use routine hearing abilities. 
 
Environmental Factors:   The environmental factors described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
 
Employee will occasionally be exposed to the outside environment, working with sharp objects, work on slippery or uneven surfaces, work on ladders or scaffolding and working alone.  Employee will continuously work in an inside environment, be exposed to excessive humidity, working around machinery with moving parts work irregular work hours (OT required), and work closely with others. 
 
Travel :  Minimal travel required - ability to travel infrequently for activities and to other VEI facilities. 
 
Required Education, Skills and Experience 
•    High school diploma or GED required 
•    Previous experience working in a warehouse environment in a supervisor capacity 
•    Basic understanding of ERP system 
•    Experienced using MS Office and e-mail correspondence 
•    Minimum 6 months previous experience operating a forklift 
 
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience 
•    College degree 
 
Certification or License required 
•    Current valid driver’s license  
•    Forklift certified
