Job Description

Summary/Objective: Work with the Blend supervisor to execute room assignments and expectations; manage blending processes efficiently; ensure schedule requirements are met; maintain a safe work environment and adhere to VEI’s policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

•    Inspect and sanitize assigned room prior to start of work day.
•    Communicate all equipment and room issues to supervisor and/or maintenance.
•    Coordinate with QC to inspect and approve room at start of day and before start of each subsequent work order.
•    Responsible for directing/training all new employees in the blending area.
•    Ensure team is appropriately dressed before start of work day and verify team compliance of all GMP and PPE requirements.
•    Ensure team members have all required tools to perform their jobs.
•    Manage room assignments and/or tasks rotation.
•    Retrieve room schedule from supervisor and ensure appropriate staffing.
•    Review work order and communicate discrepancies, shortages and pre-weigh issues to supervisor.
•    Coordinate with warehouse to ensure that next work order is available and staged.
•    Ensure correct materials and quantities are used according to the specific Job Order.
•    Ensure products are checked, counted and weighed before use, per work order instructions, and information is documented.
•    Ensure unused, or excess products, are weigh, tagged and returned to warehouse daily.
•    Responsible for the accuracy, completion and thoroughness of all necessary blending paperwork.
•    Review documentation upon completion of work order to ensure accuracy and corrections prior to submitting to supervisor.
•    Investigate and correct all work order documentation errors attributed to team leader and/or crew members.
•    Ensure all unused bags, boxes or drums are secured and prepared for storage.
•    Ensure completed blending logs are submitted to supervisor daily.
•    Work with fellow team leaders and supervisor to resolve pre-weigh and blending issues.
•    Verify Master Formula Card matches Work Orders.
•    Verify Master Formula Card calculations.
•    Verify all substitute products, Lot numbers and quantities are documented on MFC.
•    Kit Work Orders by individual blend (bulk).
•    Verify Pre-weighed ingredients (in drums) for Pre-Blend and Final Blend.
•    Move materials from staging areas to blend area via use of hand trucks and/or forklift.
•    Comply with all safety, blending and general company SOP’s.
•    Ensure room is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between orders and at end of week per SOP.
•    Manage crew member’s time and ensure compliance with event timeframes (breaks, lunch, wash and sanitation). Report violations to supervisor.
•    Able to work overtime including weekends
•    Responsible for KPI’s (Right First Time and Blends/Labor Hour)
•    Responsible for 5S
•    Able to use Deacom (ERP)
•    Notify Blend supervisor, Warehouse supervisor, or Lead Puller if Work Order items are damaged or incomplete.
•    Be familiar with function and cleaning requirement of all blending equipment.
•    Perform new product trials as assigned.

Qualifications

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Troubleshoot issues based on available variables and/or solicit assistance.

Essential Functions Mathematics
Make arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages and conversions between English System of measurement and Metric units.

Essential Functions Communication (Speech & Composition)
Able to communicate verbally with clients/customers and others to obtain and provide basic information in English. Able to communicate by telephone. Capable of explaining routine policies.

Employee will occasionally reach over shoulder, sit, walk, kneel, repeatedly bend, and climb, able to distinguish basic colors and basic shades of color. Employee will frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push and using fingers for grasping, read English with attention-to-detail, seeing activities near and far, have routine hearing ability, use peripheral vision and depth perception. Employee will continuously use both hands, stand, operate a motor driven vehicle, and use well developed coordination simultaneously

Environmental Factors:

Employee will occasionally be exposed to an outside environment, excessive heat, humidity, solvents, grease and oils, working on ladders or scaffolding, working with sharp instruments, and cleaning supplies/abrasives, vibrations, and working alone. Employee will frequently work around excessive noise, and combustibles. Employee will continuously work in an inside environment, be exposed to powder dust, work around machinery and moving parts, work irregular work hours and work closely with others.

Required Education, Skills and Experience
•    High School diploma or equivalent
•    Possess supervisory skills; able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
•    Experience in automated powder blending in a cGMP environment.
•    Basic mechanical skills to assess needed repairs and maintenance equipment.
•  •    Knowledgeable in OSHA and CGMP regulations.
•    Self-starter who can work in a fast paced environment
•    Works well in a team environment
•    Follows instructions precisely to ensure a quality product
•    Associates degree preferred
Certifications preferred
•    Forklift Certification
