Job Description

The right candidate leads and directs large teams with diverse functional and technical disciplines to include enterprise architects, systems engineers, business analysts, and network engineers. The perfect candidate works directly with senior executives of the enterprise to consult, coach, and advise on strategy, business alignment, enterprise architecture, information technology solutions, and the associated impact on the organization and its stakeholders.

The right candidate will:

  • Lead a group of engineers, architects, and analysts and ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews enterprise architecture deliverables.
  • Lead resolution of highly complex problems and tasks, selling new ideas and concepts in support of operational goals and objectives.
  • Provides technical and analytical leadership and guidance to enterprise architecture team. Integrates and translates complex concepts into tactical action plans.
  • Directs high-level enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development.
  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Transition Plans, Service Oriented Architecture, and Mission Area Federation Strategies and Roadmaps. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others.  A wide degree of creativity and innovation is expected.

Qualifications

Core Qualificiations:

  • At least three years or more of network engineering experience
  • Prefer experience and knowledge of DNS, IPAM management, firewalls, VPN
  • Prefer knowledge of best practices for network security (i.e. STIGs)
  • Deliver monthly network bandwidth utilization reports and trend analysis.
  • Utilize Science Logic for auditing and reporting.
  • Prefer Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, etc).
  • Prefer experience with AWS, Azure, Oracle or similar cloud services. 
  • Prefer experience with using Cisco routers and Cisco Secure Firewalls.
  • Prefer at least three years’ experience working with WAN routing.
  • Experience with IP routing protocols (IGRP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, OSPF)
  • Knowledge and experience using SolarWinds, InfoBlox, Fortigate, Lightmesh IPAM, Science Logic a plus.
  • Compare the managed network service provider’s port utilization reports with USDA port utilization data and provide a monthly contrast analysis report.
  • Use network analytics and trend analysis techniques to predict capacity performance issues within the USDA network and provide written or verbal analysis when requested.
  • Perform quarterly gap analysis to compare the managed network service provider’s solution architecture against USDA requirements for USDANet managed services and provide an analysis report.
  • Research new technologies, solutions, and products in the areas of enterprise architecture, including DNS, software defined networking, zero trust, remote access services, IP address management, circuit capacity analysis, Unified Communications Services and Cloud Service Gateways, and provide recommendations for USDA technology roadmaps.
  • Deliver a comparative analysis report comparing USDA WAN technology requirements to the managed network service provider’s technology roadmaps.
  • Provide process documentation which includes identifying the process, list expected results, and walk through the process with stakeholders, process documents will include: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), briefings, reports, diagrams, process and procedural updates.
  • Serve as a liaison between ENS, its customers, and managed service providers to gather requirements, broker service delivery requests, and create documentation for Decision Review Board (DRB) process.

  • Requires knowledge in all areas of networking, including but not limited to routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc., and have the ability to evaluate, coordinate and perform installation assistance.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Contractor personnel performing in a leadership capacity shall be capable of directing contractor personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers.

  • ITIL v4 foundation knowledge
  • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
