Job Description:-

Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role:-

• All Progress database administration functions including definition, maintenance, and support in a large production environment in an enterprise network, spanning multiple geographical regions preferably in a SAN environment.
• Database administration, manage and support all Production, QA and Development environments.
• Database design, architecture, implementation in an enterprise scale
• Experience in creation and conversion of Databases in different languages (including double byte).
• Manage and monitor database backups and data growth. Refreshing QA and Dev environments from Live.
• Database Performance Tuning.
• Should be able to manage, train, recruit and motivate high performance team to deliver technical services
• Experience in Database Dump and Load and Progress upgrades
• Experience in code deployment, compilation and trouble shooting of issues relating to it. Providing support to the Development Team.
• Should understand complex Unix scripts and be able to develop new scripts
• Installation and configuration experience of Progress
• Should be fully conversant in Unix Shell Scripting and should be proficient in writing shell scripts for database administration and monitoring. Knowledge of Progress 4GL queries is a plus.
• Security administration in OS / Progress, user access definition, user access management, monitoring and maintaining security of the Production environments.

Must-Have:- Progress DBA, Unix Scripting

Good-to-Have:- OpenEdge 10.x, Operational knowledge of database backup / replication softwares like EMC, Veritas etc is a plus.
