Description:
The Automic (UC4) System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software and related infrastructure. SHIFT: Three 12 hour days each week 7 pm to 7 am.
**SHIFT: Third shift - 3x 12 hour days each week. The days worked each week will be Wednesday through Friday, and every other Saturday**
Responsibilities:
- The UC4 System Administrator (SA) is responsible for batch application scheduling, monitoring and trouble-shooting. Responsibilities include supporting daily batch processing activities, working with other project related cross function teams and coordinating activities with all agency technical support teams. Must be proficient in following application processing work flows and troubleshooting for mainframe and open system platforms.
- Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
- Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to District policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Systems administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
- Installs new / rebuild existing servers and configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
- Provides Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies.
- Investigates and troubleshoots issues.
- Diagnoses and recovers from hardware or software failures.
- Coordinates and communicates with impacted constituencies.
- Applies operating system (OS) patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
- Configures / adds new services as necessary.
- Upgrades and configures system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
- Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures.
- Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
- Configures central processing unit (CPU), memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:

Skills Required:
- Prior experience as a job scheduler supporting client server, mainframe, and web platforms (all are required).
- Prior experience utilizing enterprise job scheduling tools (UC4 and/or CA7)
- Experience monitoring, configure\troubleshoot network connectivity within a distributed computing environment to ensure security and availability
- Proven prior ability to plan and analyze workflow, time-tables and processes to avoid/solve performance and resources problems.
- Define, develop, implement Automic (UC4) workload processing according to the customers scheduling, monitoring and alarming requirements.
- Installing operating system (OS) patches and upgrades
- UC4 analysis experience in both UNIX, Windows
- Shell and Perl Scripting related to UC4
- Knowledge of the following utilities preferred IBM OS/JCL & Utility programs, Exceed, Hummingbird, SSH Secure Client, Putty, WinSCP, and Xming.
- Full Life Cycle Experience from business requirements through logical design, physical design, development and implementation.
- Installing and Configuring system hardware/software
- Prior working involving use of ITIL standards and procedures, naming conventions, client concept, alarming concept, scripting, centralized includes.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 16+ yrs troubleshooting server and other hardware issues
- 16+ yrs Installing operating system (OS) patches and upgrades
- 16+ yrs installing and configuring system hardware/software in an enterprise environment
- 16+ yrs performing daily backups
- Prior work experience working varied 12 hour shifts that include third shift, and weekends.
