The Electrical Carbon business is one of the 5 Business Units of Morgan Advanced Materials and develops and manufactures a wide range of electrical carbon brushes and collectors, brush holders, slip rings and linear transfer systems, which are used to transfer electrical current between stationary and rotating or linear moving parts in motor, generator, and current collector applications.
Our products are engineered for specific customer applications and they are often required to operate in harsh or extreme environments. Electrical Carbon’s main markets are rail, industrial drives, power generation, iron and steel, mining and wind. The business’s core strength is its longstanding materials and applications experience and its ability to engineer appropriate, reliable solutions for individual customer requirements.

Job Description

Your role as Global Segment Director Clean Energy;
Morgan Advanced Materials is currently redesigning their organization and strategy, from a local organization into a truly global organization. The candidate will be leading the Clean Energy segment in building this future organization and strategy, focusing on the Clean Energy market. (Wind, Solar etc.) Clean energy is 1 of the 3 new pillars (segments) in the Electric Carbon division. 
This division has a revenue of around £ 170 Million and Clean Energy is around £ 15 million but as future looks bright, this segment has to grow.
This role is part of the global commercial and growth organization for the Electrical Carbon Business Unit and is reporting directly into the Director of Commercial and Growth based in the US and has 5 direct reports.
The position holder will be responsible for leading the commercial team in the global Clean Energy market, including the development of our global business strategy, management of our sales and new business development teams, key account management and delivery of our R&D portfolio of new products. This role has full P&L responsibility and is primarily accountable for generation of all global revenues and responsible for standard margin of products sold within the Clean Energy business.
The postholder has to create an entrepreneurial and ambitious global team and global business strategy in order to accelerate our growth in key applications in fast growing end markets such as battery storage, solar and wind turbine development.
We are looking for a candidate with experience and a network in the Wind Energy market preferably on C-suite level, potentially coming from an OEM. Also experience in building a new organization, growing the business, a technical background, developing and managing a team are key drivers for this role. This position is home-based, anywhere in Europe. As it is a global position, after the Covid Pandemic, intensive travelling is required.

Your responsibilities are: 
•    Accelerating commercial growth in the Clean Energy market:
o        Building trust-filled partnerships with key customers in order to help them achieve success through our products and services;
o        Optimizing our market share, maximizing our revenue and profitability with sound processes and a data driven approach;
o        Driving improved use of our commercial tools such as CRM, BI QlikView, Sales Matrix, Market Maps, Negotiations and Value-Pricing tools.
•    Building and directing a strong team centred on strong commercial acumen, creativity and customer focus:
o        Hiring and directing strategic marketing resources to get close with key customers and gather insights from key market trends to instruct our product development portfolio and inform product positioning and value pricing;
o        Deploying applications development engineers to understand customer needs and develop custom solutions, training tools, and services to strengthen our relationship and exceed our key customer needs;
o        Directing a dedicated global sales and key account management team to year on year growth;
o        Communicates proactively as a global team to maintain focus and drive delivery to goals.
•    Introduces creative new products and new creative growth modes:
o        Leading your team to find and develop new products or applications within the Clean Energy market;
o        Blueprinting and writing business cases to justify spend in new product development and partners with our Center of Excellence in R&D;
o        Investigating, justifying and conducting diligence activities for potential joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
•    Partnering effectively with supporting functions by open and transparent communication, expectation setting, common processes and review cadence:
o        Global Operations and Supply Chain: Collaborating to communicate customer needs, solve problems proactively, participate monthly in S&Op processes, together forecast and overall set the tone for customer-focused operations in our materials plants;
o        Global Marketing Communications: Communicating the value propositions and messaging to the global marcom team so that they can deploy the messaging appropriately;
o        Global COE: Partnering with the COE (Centre of Excellence) and other product technology teams to articulate new business concepts, write justification papers to start R&D investment, and partner throughout the development process shepherding the concept through the stages and into the market with successful go to market launch strategy;
o        Global Strategic Projects and NMD(New Market Development): Partnering with our new business team on successful orchestration of bigger and more strategic projects. Collaborating on annual strategy and planning review sessions.

Qualifications

Our new Global Division Director Clean Energy;
•    Has 3+ years of experience accountable for a business operation in a technology space, preferably Wind Energy;
•    Experience with Key Accounts Management and Strategic Negotiation;
•    Exposure to the broad Clean Energy market through direct work experiences, and deep expertise in the Wind Energy market;
•    15+ years’ experience leading sales, marketing, or new business development for technology companies; 
•    MBA or equivalent (preferable);
•    Successful management of a global team; 
•    Multilingual ability would be an advantage;
•    Available for extensive global travelling.
