VAM Systems is currently looking for Data Center Administrator for our Qatar operations with the following skill set and terms and conditions:

Skill Set required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • 8+ years of related experience in a large IT Datacenter Facility

  • Demonstrated experience with backup procedures and tools such as EMC backup tools.

  • Demonstrated experience in servers and hardware mounting, firmware upgrade, patching and fixes.

  • Possess experience in administer monitoring tools in an enterprise environment with multiple sites.

  • Demonstrated Experience in datacenter power load, consumption, AC conditioning and cooling systems.

  • Excellent and advanced knowledge of data centers, varieties hardware and IT services.

  • Excellent knowledge of cable management industry standards and guidelines.

  • Proficient Technical skills in data center electricity and cooling.

  • Strong Knowledge of cabling topology and cabling matrix.

  • Proficiency in infrastructure Monitoring tools of VMs and physical servers and network equipment

  • Excellent knowledge of Monitoring setup and configuration in different technology platforms such as VMware environment and storage

  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical and logical security of Data Center standards and procedures.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Asset Management (reconciliation or inventory / stock management)

  • Demonstrated Ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, high pressure environment including the resolution of escalated issues and events.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English preferably Arabic Speaking.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Tracks and manages assets throughout hardware assets life cycle, which includes maintaining an accurate hardware inventory, RMA (Returned Materials Authorization) of outgoing equipment, surplus and retired items.

  • Maintains the stock and inventory for all IT related equipment and document all physical computing devices.

  • Solves critical hardware performance issues such as overheating, cable maintenance and placement and power issues in a timely and safe manner.

  • Performs day to day service operations with datacenter best practices and standards linked to ITIL disciples.

  • Prepares and updates purchase requests if needed.

  • Contributes to negotiations with providers and contractors to ensure optimum supply and delivery of contracts

  • Analyses and implements mission critical Data Center best practices for power and cooling.

  • Reviews Data Center requisitions for completeness, correctness and clarity.

  • Manages process for Data Center allocation of space and power charges.

  • Performs work under Project Tasks, evaluates change controls and implementation plans to perform work.

  • Performs scheduled inspections to ensure compliance with Client managed Data Center standards.

  • Monitors contracts with external vendors including SLA's and continual follow-up meetings in order to ensure optimal service levels achieved.

  • Monitors all software and hardware products and ensures compliance with Data Center standards and best practices.

  • Contributes and implements short and long term plans to ensure Data Center capacity meets Client existing and future requirements.

  • Ensures adherence to all established policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices for Client’s Data Center.

  • Manage Client in-house infrastructure monitoring tools; HP SiteScope and NNMi, configure new servers and devices to ensure full monitoring functionality is achieved.

  • Coordinate closely with other technical teams to setup and configure servers’ monitors as required, especially with network and systems teams.

  • Identify, escalate, and communicate monitoring issues to internal teams or vendor in a timely manner while quickly troubleshooting monitoring issues and applying corrective actions.

  • Setup, administer, support and maintain monitoring tools performance including upgrades and patching to ensure high performance and availability.

  • Adheres to Client’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

  • In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Client during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Terms and conditions:

Joining time frame: 2 weeks (maximum 1 month).

The selected candidates shall join VAM SYSTEMS – Qatar and shall be deputed to one of the leading Organization in Qatar.
