Ute Decker is an artist jeweller known for her minimalist sculptural statement pieces.  Her work is represented by leading galleries specialising in jewellery by painters and sculptors; exhibited at major international fairs such as PAD, Design Miami & Basel and found in several museum collections including the V&A. Furthermore, with a desire to empower and champion positive change, Ute is a leading voice of the responsible jewellery movement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Hub of a small arts practice Coordinate and manage all administrative tasks for a busy artist with several ongoing projects at any time
  • Inventory & consignment management Keep records and archives up to date with relevant imagery and works details (Artlogic training can be provided). Coordination with studio assistant.   
  • Bookkeeping & Invoicing  (training can be provided)
  • Photography Overseeing professional photography & retouching as well as have good photography, photo editing and resizing skills
  • Promotion & Marketing Create client presentations & proposals, promote exhibitions, new artworks and exciting news
  • Sales Assist Ute in following up enquiries, assist at UK events such as Goldsmiths’ Fair and Open Studios
  • Social Media & Artist Website Maintain, update, and produce content, including for external listings. Basic understanding of SEO             
  • Client & Partnership Relations Maintaining contacts database, nurturing and building relationships
  • Project Management Be familiar with project management principles to oversee scheduling, deadlines and key milestones in our ClickUp software (further training can be provided)
  • Initiate Improvements Create style guides, templates, manage delegations 

Qualifications

Candidate Key Criteria

  • Be Organised  Methodical and thorough, able to prioritise tasks and bring a systemised and logical structure to work
  • Communication Professional, friendly and concise communication skills to engage with our galleries, collectors, clients, press and suppliers  
  • Resourceful and Proactive Able to take on tasks in unknown territories, can-do attitude, problem solve, learn on the go and generate new opportunities. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Keen Interest & Relevant experience in studio management and  marketing experience in similar contemporary craft / art jewellery / art or design based studio practices or galleries and  knowledge of the current landscape

Desirable Skills

  • Writing Skills  advanced copywriting for press releases, press enquiries, interviews, artist statements, artwork descriptions
  • Facilitate Growth Research and prepare exhibition, grant, collaboration, publication or commission opportunities

What is on Offer

Join a prominent artist practice exhibiting internationally. Being a small practice, the position allows the candidate to work closely alongside the artist and be fully involved in all administrative and marketing aspects.  

  • Freelance position - London N1 & WC1
  • Part-Time, 2 days a week 
  • Mostly on site – hybrid may be possible on occasions
  • Days can have some degree of flexibility, depending on circumstances  
  • Salary Pro Rata £25,000 - £35,000  (£16 - £21 per hour) – dependant on skills and experience
