Job Description

Upright Citizens Brigade is hiring temporary, part-time Event Staff for a six-month fixed-term position supporting our performance and teaching venues. This position reports to the Venue Manager and works closely with the Shift Lead during scheduled shifts.

Ideal candidates are enthusiastic supporters of UCB or current UCB students who are familiar with our live improv and sketch programming. They enjoy creating a welcoming, organized, and safe experience for patrons, students, and performers.

Schedule and Availability

This is a temporary, part-time role with a six-month fixed term. Saturday availability is required for this position and is not flexible.

Opportunities to pick up additional shifts may become available over time based on venue programming, operational needs, and staff availability.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Shift Lead and help ensure a high-quality customer and patron experience.

  • Welcome patrons and provide friendly, helpful service before, during, and after performances.

  • Process ticket sales using a computerized ticketing system.

  • Process concessions transactions using a computerized point-of-sale system.

  • Provide general information about events, classes, performances, and venue operations.

  • Manage patron lines outside the venue and help maintain an orderly, positive arrival experience.

  • Assist with the safe and efficient seating, exiting, and overall flow of audiences before and after performances.

  • Maintain the appearance of the lobby and other public-facing areas.

  • Complete nightly cleaning and closing duties for the lobby, public areas, and concessions spaces.

  • Support venue operations as needed to help ensure performances and classes run smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Previous performing arts box office experience
  • Computer skills: emailing, reporting, Google Calendar, Google Sheets and Eventbrite administration
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Skill in guest relations, phone etiquette, filing, multi-task environment, and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate, work well with others, and work in a high-volume, public-facing, and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain proper etiquette around high-profile performers and guests.
