Job Description

English and Liberal Arts Teacher 
Location: Auckland CBD
Full-time | Fixed-term | On-site

This is a fixed term opportunity, providing one-term cover for a teacher going on extended leave. Commencing ASAP and finishing Friday 26 June 2026. Ideally seeking someone available immediately. 

About the role:

UP International College New Zealand is looking to recruit a passionate English and general liberal arts subject teacher for a specialised programme – Pathways Link Programme. The role will involve:  

  • Teaching English to international EAL learners with IELTS scores of 4.5 – 5.0, and undertaking assessments and administrative responsibilities relating to the course  

  • Teaching Liberal Arts subjects (e.g. Global Citizenship) to the same students, undertaking assessments and administrative responsibilities relating to the course  

  • Leading Whanau Classes which focus on social wellbeing and inclusion 

Some of your key responsibilities outside of teaching will include:  

  • Providing academic and pastoral oversight of students   

  • Engaging with pastoral and academic systems 

  • Elevating any issues with academic or pastoral issues through the Learner Success Team (who will in turn communicate with parents and agents)  

  • Completing administrative tasks as required in relation to these responsibilities   

Qualifications

About you:  

You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and that you are able to make a positive contribution to the programme. As a highly organised individual who likes to plan and work efficiently, managing your schedule and meeting deadlines will be second nature to your passion for teaching. This will be demonstrated through the consistent positive student feedback.  

You must possess the following:  

  • A qualification suitable to teach EAP to international learners.   

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or Graduate Diploma in Teaching  

  • Teaching Certification with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand 

  • Experience in international students’ environment is preferred
