Job Description
Hospitality Tutor
Location: Sylvia Park
Full-time | Permanent | NZMA Sylvia Park
About the Role
In this rewarding position, you will become a coach and mentor for students who want to become skilled hospitality professionals. You will be delivering across our Hospitality Programmes that explore the broader hospitality industry, including food and beverage operations, accommodation services, and the relationship between tourism and hospitality. Through a combination of practical training and industry insight, you will support students to build the knowledge, confidence, and professional behaviours needed to progress into supervisory and junior management roles within the sector.
You will have the opportunity to grow students’ knowledge of industry trends, master technical skills and develop important soft skills by combining the provision of quality tutoring and being an inspiring mentor all to build student capability, and support students in achieving both their study and career goals.
Qualifications
About You
For this role we are looking for a skilled and experienced hospitality professional with a passion for the industry and educating future leaders. You will need to be a strong communicator, able to motivate and inspire young adults, try out new things, and most importantly bring a positive, enthusiastic attitude. You need to be able to connect and build relationships with all your students so the ability to respect and appreciate differences is certainly a must.
Required Skills/Experience
- Recent experience in the hospitality industry including minimum 3 years experience in a management position
- Hold a relevant qualification at level 5 or above (although equivalent experience can also be accepted).
- Proven background in a broad range of FOH roles within the sector
- Strong understanding of hospitality management and hospitality operations / food and beverage operations
- Strong communicator, able to motivate and inspire young adults
- Formal teaching experience is not essential but advantageous.
