Job Description

About the role: 

Reporting to the Bachelor of Social Work Course Coordinator, the Lecturer will support the delivery of quality field education by connecting industry practice with student learning. This role suits an experienced social work practitioner looking to transition into academia, bringing current industry knowledge to placement coordination, stakeholder engagement, and practice-focused learning outcomes. 
 
Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead and manage the student placement program, ensuring high-quality, well-supported placement experiences from commencement to completion. 

  • Source, negotiate and maintain placement opportunities by building strong relationships with government and non-government partner agencies. 

  • Monitor student progress, assess performance, complete summative assessments, and identify and support students at risk during placements. 

  • Develop and deliver student placement briefings, resources and curriculum-aligned materials in collaboration with academic leadership. 

  • Maintain placement databases, oversee quality assurance processes, and contribute to continuous improvement through evaluation and reporting. 

  • Facilitate communication, mediation and reporting with students, agencies and internal stakeholders, including contractual arrangements and MOUs. 

Qualifications

 

  • Hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work (Qualifying) Degree, and 3 years of broad industry experience. 

  • WWCC Employee or state equivalent 

  • Eligibility for membership of the AASW. 

  • Able to build positive working relationships and communicate well with staff and students of diverse backgrounds. 

  • Experience and skills in fieldwork placement are preferred and considered an advantage. 

  • The ability to further develop teaching expertise, and the ability and willingness to use technology for teaching and learning.
