At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you!
Job Description
Do you want to work at the leading edge of data analysis in higher education? Do you want your analyses to shape decisions at a leading, global Catholic university?
Institutional Research, Innovation, and Strategy (IRIS) provides strategic insight to Notre Dame's senior leaders. We are hiring a Senior Institutional Research Analyst & Consultant who pairs strong research design and quantitative skills with a drive to keep learning: someone who uses AI and cutting-edge analytic tools to work smarter, tests new methods, and helps the team do the same.
What you'll do
Independently design and carry out studies that answer leaders' questions, choosing the research design, data sources, and statistical methods
Consult with campus partners to clarify their information needs, scope requests, and recommend data collection strategies, including surveys
Use AI, automation, and other cutting-edge tools to streamline analysis and reporting, and share what works with the team
Serve as the lead analyst for one or more data domains (e.g., students, faculty, courses, or surveys), including recurring reporting and external submissions
Turn findings into clear reports, dashboards, and presentations for the Executive Officers, senior administrators, and the Board of Trustees
Guide and train other analysts, and represent the University with consortia and data-sharing partners
Why we're excited about you
You are always learning, often the first to try a new tool or method and figure out where it helps
You think rigorously about research design and know which method fits the question
You manage projects independently, from first conversation to final presentation
You explain complex findings clearly to people who aren't analysts
You build strong relationships and enjoy being part of a collaborative team
Who we are
IRIS is charged with providing strategic insights and serving as trusted counsel to the President and senior leadership of the University on the most pressing issues across campus and higher education. As the University’s in-house institutional data analysis and consulting group, IRIS works on major cross-functional efforts, including unit strategic plans, administrative unit reviews, institutional data reporting, and innovation design and implementation. We partner with the Enterprise & Data Analytics team in the Office of Information Technologies on the University's Enterprise Data Warehouse, and we are actively exploring how AI can expand what our analysts can do. It's an exciting time to join us.
What makes Notre Dame special?
The people who work here often cite our great work culture, distinctive mission, career-building opportunities, and best-in-class benefits. Highlights include an on-campus Wellness Center with discounted co-pays, educational benefits for employees and dependents, and paid time off including eight paid holidays.
What's next?
If you want to do leading-edge analytic work for a university with a distinctive mission, we hope you will apply!
