Job Description
Are you passionate about helping students discover the path to college and achieve their academic goals?
The University of Notre Dame is seeking a dedicated and motivated Talent Search Advisor to support middle and high school students as they prepare for higher education. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding students - many of whom are first-generation college-bound - through the academic planning, college exploration, and financial aid processes that lead to college success.
As a member of Notre Dame’s federally funded Talent Search TRIO Program, the Talent Search Advisor works closely with fellow advisors to advance the objectives of the program’s federal grant. This position also collaborates with staff from Notre Dame’s Upward Bound college preparatory program to support students from partner schools across the community.
The Advisor plays a key role in delivering college awareness programming, academic guidance, and individualized support to students and their families. Through workshops, group presentations, and one-on-one advising, this role helps students understand academic expectations, prepare for college admission, navigate the financial aid process, and explore and pursue in-demand industry-recognized credentials that align with their career interests and local workforce opportunities. The position also builds relationships with school personnel and community partners to ensure students receive the support and resources needed to succeed.
Successful candidates will bring a strong commitment to educational access and equity, along with the ability to work effectively with students from first-generation, low-income, and other underrepresented backgrounds. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, sound judgment, and the confidence to present information to large groups of students, families, and school partners.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven team dedicated to expanding college access, and empowering students to achieve their full potential.
