Job Description

The Wilma and Peter Veldman Family Psychology Clinic at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a Therapist to join our collaborative, mission-driven team. This clinician will play a central role in providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families while supporting the Clinic’s broader training and community-engaged mission.

About the Clinic

The Veldman Family Psychology Clinic is Notre Dame’s premier center for clinical science, training, and community mental health. As part of the College of Arts & Letters, the clinic brings together faculty, staff, and students who are pioneering innovative research, delivering exceptional clinical care, and preparing the next generation of mental health professionals. Our work is deeply grounded in the University’s mission to be a force for good—with a particular focus on expanding access to evidence-based, high-quality mental health services for underserved populations in our community and around the world.

Position Overview

The Therapist will provide direct clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, and families while contributing to the Clinic’s integrated mission of clinical care, training, and community engagement. The clinician will provide evidence-based assessment and intervention services across a range of presenting concerns and will collaborate with Clinic faculty, staff, trainees, and community partners to help ensure accessible, effective, and responsive care.

This is a two-year, limited-term position, and contingent on funding, the position may be extended. The role offers opportunities to supervise and train graduate students, contribute to provider trainings and community workshops, and participate in evaluation and research activities that inform the continued development and delivery of evidence-based interventions and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, and families, including screening, intake assessment, individual and group interventions, scheduling and preparation, and other aspects of service delivery.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to clinical interns and practicum students, including reviewing session recordings, providing feedback and consultation, and completing required supervision documentation.
  • Deliver clinical services primarily on-site at the Veldman Family Psychology Clinic and, as needed, in community-based settings in collaboration with partner organizations.
  • Support training and professional development efforts by helping develop and deliver trainings, didactic seminars, workshops, and consultation activities for graduate trainees, providers, and community stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Clinic faculty and staff, families, healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations as appropriate to coordinate services and support continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and organized clinical documentation and records in accordance with Clinic policies and applicable professional standards.
  • Participate in treatment team and staff meetings, collaborative problem-solving, and activities that support effective Clinic operations.
  • Contribute to community engagement, consultation, evaluation and research activities, and other clinical initiatives that advance the needs and mission of the Veldman Family Psychology Clinic.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Passionate about providing care that works, grounded in evidence-based approaches and guided by a commitment to meaningful, lasting impact for clients and communities.
  • Committed to serving vulnerable populations, with experience providing clinical care and case management across the lifespan
  • Driven to work at the intersection of science and compassion, eager to translate research into practice and to help bring evidence-based therapies to our community.
  • Collaborative and community-minded, comfortable partnering with families, schools, and local organizations to improve mental health access and outcomes.
  • Curious and growth-oriented, excited to learn new therapeutic models, contribute to training and supervision of students, and continuously refine their clinical and leadership skills.
  • Organized and reliable, able to balance direct clinical work and coordination with partners.

This role is ideal for a clinician who finds purpose in connecting evidence-based care with real-world needs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Masters or doctoral degree in clinical psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely-related field, with a current Indiana license in that field (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, Ph.D., Psy.D., etc.) or immediate eligibility in Indiana via license reciprocity.
  • Candidates must carry professional certification for independent practice in the state of Indiana (e.g., Indiana requires licensed psychologists to obtain endorsement as health service providers in psychology (HSPP) to engage in independent diagnosis, treatment of mental and behavioral disorders, and related clinical supervision).
  • At least one year of independent (i.e., post-licensure) experience providing evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations, including youth, families, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Clinical experience across the lifespan, including child, adolescent, and adult, and working with addictions/substance use, though not required, is a plus.
  • Training or experience in cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, or dialectical-behavioral approaches.
  • Training or experience in providing group therapy.
  • Experience or interest in providing clinical supervision for interns and practicum students.
  • Experience working within and across community-based systems (e.g., school, child welfare, legal, primary care, crisis/mobile response, housing, etc.).
  • Interest in training others in evidence-based approaches and scaling interventions in community contexts.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a strong plus, to help ensure that evidence-based care reaches as many families as possible in our diverse community.
