Bethesda Family Medicine Clinic:

The team at University of Minnesota Physicians Bethesda Clinic provides a full range of services for you and your family. Our patients include newborns, children, teenagers, adults, the elderly, and residents of nursing homes. Our clinic offers services in general family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, chronic and acute conditions, travel medicine, primary refugee screenings, social services, patient education, and referral to specialty care. We are a Certified Health Care Home and provide enhanced care coordination services.  We are a University of MN residency clinic and our doctors also practice at St. Joseph's Hospital.  Our care team includes of Faculty, Residents, Medical Students, Pharmacists, and Psychologists.  

Patient Care Supervisor

As our Patient Care Supervisor, you’ll serve up to 140 patients per day by leading the clinical operations of a large-volume clinic in close partnership with the Clinic Manager and Medical Director.  Our patient care team consists of seasoned professionals (CMAs, MAs, LPNs, etc.) to whom you’ll provide daily workflow direction, ensuring our clinic operates efficiently and patients and providers receive the support they need.  The team will best be served by a true team player who is willing to pitch in on the floor when necessary and lead by example. Bethesda Clinic also provides the unique opportunity for the Patient Care Supervisor to engage in the community as you work closely with the Medical Director on several innovative projects. We are seeking someone eager to work with community groups and work outside the clinic to engage others in driving a healthy future for the local community.

As the Patient Care Supervisor you will:

• Lead recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, pay decisions, discipline for staff.
• Lead and/or participate in clinic improvement projects.
• Supervise training of staff upon hire and ongoing development to ensure that employees are competent to perform the skills and tasks required for their position. 
• Ensure that staff training complies with OSHA, Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
• Advise and lead patient care staff with regard to changes in the medical community to ensure best practices and may be responsible for clinical policy/ procedure development and implementation. 
• Provide direction and assist with care of patients in urgent and emergent situations. 
• Assist in achieving coordination, consistency, and integration in the operation of the clinic site in conjunction with clinic leadership, and assists with the development and implementation of required learnings, policies and procedures.
• Other duties include promoting the clinic to providers and community members.

In order to qualify for this role, you must possess:

• A current Minnesota LPN License or higher.
• Five years of nursing experience in an ambulatory or inpatient care setting including two years of supervisory or nursing leadership experience in a clinical setting. Proven leadership and team development skills.
• Proven Patient Centered Care and above average performance as a nurse.
• Excellent communication skills.  Ability to multi-task on an ongoing basis. Good organization and prioritization skills.
• Must be a relationship-builder, superior patient advocate, self-motivated problem solver, continuous improver and technically advanced in nursing.

Preferred:

• A current Minnesota RN License
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Continuously improves and maintains expertise in profession, develops better processes and continuously improves skills.
• Three to five years of nursing leadership experience in Family Medicine or Primary Care setting. 
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols.
• Proficient with EPIC EHR.
• Continuous education in related clinical area.
• Critical thinking, Leadership and team development skills.
• Interest in Refugee Health.
• Interest in Academic Medicine.
• Interest in Reducing Health Disparities.
