Job Description
This is a fully remote, part-time (.60) position that will work day/eve.
The Revenue/Quality Nurse is a member of the Emergency Services Team. The Revenue/Quality Nurse is responsible for the reconciliation, monitoring and completion of the Emergency Department coding/charging system. Responsibilities include performance of audits for completeness and accuracy of coding/charging functions of the clinical staff. Responsible for the education and development of staff and processes to ensure accurate revenue and charging is completed for the Emergency Department visits.
- Participates in chart audits for appropriateness and completion of documentation in accordance with Emergency Department policies/protocols/procedures related to standards of care.
- Performs daily chart audits to ensure medical record documentation substantiates patient account charges. Consults with nursing staff regarding documentation issues associated with the level of care coding.
- Refers incomplete charts to appropriate staff for completion. Follows up on referrals in a timely manner. Notifies Emergency Department Clinical Manager for problems related to completion of documentation.
- Identifies appropriate level of care (facility code) charge using level of care criteria and nursing documentation. Submits/makes corrections for adjustment to the patient account. Supervises chart review and data entry of charges
- Performs audits/reviews as required. Communicates findings and/or recommendations to appropriate parties.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland. Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience required. Knowledge of emergency nursing and facility codes-preferred. Meets all applicable federal, state, and local professional requirements.
