The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is a world-renowned tertiary and quaternary Advanced Heart Failure Center. The advanced heart failure team is a multidisciplinary service that supports patients with advanced cardiac disease is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Nocturnist, to join its team. It will also involve as-needed cross-coverage in collaboration with the cardiac fellow for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.  

  
Job specifics:

  • The population includes patients post cardiac transplant, post ventricular assist device placement, pulmonary hypertension, cardiogenic shock or decompensated heart failure
  • Familiarity with invasive cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia management required
  • Hours are 7p to 7 a
  • Opportunities to be involved in research/quality improvement efforts
  • Will involve management of acute issues overnight - will collaborate with cardiac fellow or any specialty services needed  
  • Documentation in EPIC of any acute change in condition
  • Will require night-time rounding on patients  
  • Emphasis on communication with family members regarding changes in the patient’s condition
  • Family and patient education will be required
  • Communication with on-coming and off-service providers to ensure continuity of care and avoid complications associated with care transitions

Qualifications

A Master of Science degree, with completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Nursing, and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of specialization. A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
