Job Description

Certified Wound Care Registered Nurse, RN

Fulltime, 7am-5pm, Days

Main Function

  • Develops comprehensive wound management program which provides direct and indirect care through the application of the nursing process. The wound care specialist assists nurses with assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients with ostomies, complex wounds, pressure ulcers, and alteration in skin integrity. The wound care specialist develops, implements, and evaluates standards of nursing care, collects and analyzes patient care data, and oversees patient’s plan of care in order to achieve positive clinical outcomes. Develops and implements evidence based practice guidelines and protocols for wound treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers. Responsibilities also include managing outcomes for wound care while acting as specialty consult and educator to Nurses, Physicians, Physical Therapists, and other providers of wound care for all areas of the organization. The wound care specialist also collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assess patient’s need for nursing care and patient/family education regarding wound management related to diabetes, vascular diseases, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, and entercutaneousfistula or skin tears. The wound care specialist addresses physical and psychosocial rehabilitative and discharge needs of patients.

Qualifications

Licensure:

  • Current RN licensed in the State of Maryland.

Education:

  • Certified as a Wound Care Specialist (WCC, WOCN, or CWCN).
  • ASN or BSN, with valid MD License

Experience:

  • One-year recent experience in clinical specialty area in wound care is required.
