The University of Maryland Access Center Nursing Coordinator assumes accountability for system-wide placement of patients into available beds 24 hours/7 days a week. The nursing coordinator collaborates with Access Center Physicians (ACP) and hospital-based shift coordinators/supervisors to assure that decisions are consistent with hospital/service line priorities and hospital resources. The nursing coordinator may assist hospital administration and /or the Administrator-on-call in resolving issues which require attention.

1. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with the attainment of a diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s degree is required.  If educational level is less than a baccalaureate program, completion of the BSN degree will be required. 
2. Current licensure in the State of Maryland or eligible for licensure.
3. Three years of nursing work experience in a Medical/Surgical IMC and/or Critical Care unit is required.
