Salary Range:  $35.35 - $53.03 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Days
Status: Temporary Full-time (18-month contract)

Position Summary: 
The Research Facilities Coordinator supports the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of research laboratories and core facilities. This role ensures a safe, functional, and well‑organized environment by coordinating equipment services, managing facility access, overseeing vendors, and supporting safety compliance. 

Work occurs primarily in laboratory and technical environments and may involve lifting equipment (up to 25–40 lbs), extended walking, and use of PPE. Work location may be any UHN research facility or space. Occasional after‑hours response may be required for facility‑related emergencies. 

Duties:

  • Oversee daily research facility operations and ensure laboratories are maintained in optimal condition. 
  • Manage service requests, work orders, and vendor interactions. 
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and airflow as needed. 
  • Maintain equipment inventory, service records, and documentation. 
  • Assist with procurement, installation, and decommissioning of scientific equipment. 
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs for laboratory equipment. 
  • Ensure proper waste disposal in compliance with regulatory standards. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for researchers regarding facility operations and equipment access. 
  • Manage access control systems including key cards and user permissions. 
  • Support laboratory renovations and infrastructure projects through coordination and logistics. 
  • Track budgets related to equipment contracts, supplies, and facility operations. 
  • Work occurs primarily in laboratory and technical environments.  
  • May involve lifting equipment (up to 25–40 lbs), extended walking, and use of PPE. 
  • Work location may be any UHN research facility or space

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, engineering, or related field preferred. 
  • 2-4 years of experience in research, laboratory operations or facility support. 
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and scientific research workflows preferred. 
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities. 
  • Familiarity with biosafety, chemical safety, and regulatory guidelines preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
