Salary: $38.42 - $39.02 per hour. Start rate is non-negotiable.
Shifts: Day, Evening and/or Night shifts, Weekends
Hours: 1.0 FTE | 8 hour and/or 12 hour shifts
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary
The West Park (WP) Staffing Office manages nursing resource deployment across West Park and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC) units to respond to staffing gaps, short-term vacancies, unplanned absences, and coverage for leaves such as sick time.
As a Float Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), you will provide adaptable, quality patient care by stepping into various clinical environments as needed. On any given shift, you will seamlessly integrate into different care teams, rapidly assess changing unit priorities, and support diverse patient populations across rehabilitation, complex continuing care, or reactivation settings.
In alignment with the SEIU Collective Agreement, schedules will be posted a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance. However, due to the nature of this float position, successful candidates must be flexible and are expected to work across both the West Park and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC) sites and units on any given scheduled shift.
Please Note: This role requires you to work across various inpatient units at both the West Park and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC) sites. Successful candidates must be highly flexible and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently across both campus locations, which are situated in close vicinity to one another:
- West Park Healthcare Centre: 170 Emmet Avenue, Toronto
- The Reactivation Care Centre (RCC): 82 Buttonwood Avenue, Toronto
Duties
- Plan, manage, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families within the RPN scope of practice, utilizing a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach.
- Apply current theoretical knowledge, research, and clinical team input to plan and implement care.
- Actively participate in inter-professional care planning forums, clinical rounds, and family conferences.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to RPN students and new staff members on the unit.
- Participate in professional, program, and hospital-wide initiatives, remaining committed to continuous personal professional development.
- Maintain a strong commitment to patient safety by complying with all hospital plans, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe care environment.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Diploma in Practical Nursing from a recognized educational institution.
- Current Medication Administration certificate (if it was not integrated into your diploma program).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification at Level C.
- Eligibility for the Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) program.
- Active membership with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (WeRPN) is preferred.
- Strong health assessment and clinical decision-making skills, reflecting patient-centeredness, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
- Strong working knowledge of CNO Standards of Practice and applicable healthcare legislation.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with basic computer software including Word, email, and web applications, with a willingness to learn internal hospital systems.
- A proven record of good attendance and punctuality.
