Position Summary 
The Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRCI) collaborates with Investigators, other research teams members, and the health care team to assume responsibility for several research studies at West Park Healthcare Centre, including the overall patient management and coordination of a prospective observational cohort study, and data collection and management of a retrospective research database and several retrospective research studies.

Duties 

  • Recruit study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential participants, obtain informed consent); 
  • Coordinate patient visit schedules as per study protocol; execute all aspects of study visit (e.g. medical histories, questionnaires, scheduling testing, sample collection, including processing and shipment of samples according to clinical protocol); 
  • Prepare and maintain research files, implement and coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation, as per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines; 
  • Actively support recruitment efforts, including in-services, development of marketing materials, and preparation of stakeholder reports
  • Liaise with sponsor for progress updates, and monitoring/audits;  
  • Review and assessing study-related literature; 
  • Submission and revision of Research Ethics Board applications;  
  • Maintenance of a retrospective research database, including data collection and imputation from electronic and paper charts, and data cleaning;
  • Support for retrospective research studies, including developing study data collection tools, performing data collection/cleaning, performing simple statistical analyses on study data, assistance with study manuscript writing.  

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline; Master’s an asset
  • 3 years clinical and/or professional experience required
  • At least 1 year clinical research experience preferred 
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines an asset 
  • Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures an asset 
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred; candidates willing to obtain certification encouraged to apply
  • Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office software – Word, Excel and Power Point preferred
  • Attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice 
  • Autonomous clinical critical thinking ability 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required 
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environment
