Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $84,006 to $126,005 annually
Status: Temporary Full-Time

The mission of UHN’s Office of Research Trainees (ORT) is to contribute towards research productivity and excellence at UHN by providing leadership and support in research trainee and postdoc-related matters. The ORT develops high-quality resources, programming, and opportunities to help research students and postdoctoral researchers (PDRs) excel in their research and build their research and professional development skills.
Reporting to the Director, Office of Research Trainees, the Lead, Research Training Programs provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of research training and professional development programs for UHN research trainees and PDRs.
Duties
- Evaluate current and future training needs, including trainee and PDR needs assessments and SWOT analyses, and internal and external environmental scans
- Oversee the development and implementation of new educational programs for trainees and PDRs
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ORT educational programs, making appropriate updates to educational programs and curricula as required
- Develop and implement strategic projects and initiatives
- Oversee, coach, and support ORT staff, including Coordinator and Communications Assistant;
- Develop strategic plans for ORT operations and programming, ensuring alignment with UHN and UHN Research vision and strategy, and oversee implementation with ORT staff
- Identify, and consult and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including the UHN Research and Career Advancement Collaborative Hub, Canada Leads, and People & Culture staff
- Identify and address emerging issues and risks within the UHN trainee and PDR communities
- Represent ORT and UHN trainees on committees and with UHN staff and leadership
- Evaluate Key Performance Indicators and prepare strategic reports and presentations for ORT director and UHN leadership
Qualifications
- Completion of a PhD degree in a biomedical or health science research field or recognized equivalent is required.
- At least two years of practical and related experience required.
- Experience developing and implementing educational and/or strategic initiatives is required.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) required.
- Strategic critical thinking, attention to detail, and time management skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team and independently required.
- Proficient use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint required.
- Experience with change management is an asset.
- Customer service experience is an asset.
