Position Summary

The Collaborative Academic Practice portfolios at UHN lead the synthesis of Health Profession Practice, Education, Research and Leadership in service of enhancing Patient Experience, Patient Safety and Health Outcomes. The Strategy & Transformation team is an integral enabler of this, moving initiatives forward across the organization.

As an important member of the Collaborative Academic Practice portfolio, this role reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy & Transformation. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Planner include: planning, designing, managing, implementing and coordinating priority projects within the Strategy & Transformation team, as well as the broader Collaborative Academic Practice Portfolio. The Senior Planner will require knowledge and experience using change management and project management methodologies to ensure success of cross-organizational priority projects. The Senior Planner will manage multiple, concurrent projects and work both in collaboration with colleagues and independently.  

Duties

  • Developing and managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside the organization
  • Leading the initiation, planning, execution, and closure of CAP projects which include policy development, strategic planning, educational programs, implementation of practice changes, and patient experience initiatives.
  • Utilizing project management methodology to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and within scope while actively and effectively managing risks.
  • Provide timely and accurate project status updates to the project team and other stakeholders. This includes reports on schedule, cost, resource utilization, issues, risks, etc.
  • Developing business cases as required
  • Administrative responsibilities as required
     

Qualifications

  • At minimum completion of Master’s degree program or recognized equivalent in management, healthcare, leadership or business
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Member of a Registered Health Profession Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience in working with change management and project management methodologies
  • Demonstrated success in planning, managing and implementing projects is required
  • Hands-on experience developing communication tools is required
  • Preference given to those who have worked in a hospital environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
