Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our research team. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing and maintaining workflows for protein production and purification across multiple expression systems, including bacterial, fungal, insect, and mammalian cells.

Position Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in protein science within a collaborative and dynamic environment. You will gain experience across diverse expression systems and be part of a team working toward understanding and targeting complex biological systems.

Duties:

  • Establish and optimize protein expression systems in various hosts (E. coli, yeast, insect, and mammalian cells).
  • Perform protein purification using affinity, ion exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography.
  • Maintain laboratory records, prepare reagents, and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with students/staff to support structural, biochemical, and functional studies of recombinant proteins.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and optimization of purification protocols for yield and quality.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in protein expression and purification.
  • Familiarity with AKTA or equivalent chromatography systems is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Expertise in membrane protein purification is a strong plus.
