Position Summary
The Depression Centre Clinical Research Unit (DCCRU) is dedicated to transforming the way that mood and anxiety disorders are treated, understood and characterized. Part of our innovative research includes using novel interventions for mood and anxiety disorders that are otherwise difficult to treat with conventional interventions.
We are seeking an energetic and experienced individual to perform clinical research activities in a dynamic and collegial environment as a Clinical Research Analyst where they will assist with multiple research studies.
Duties
- Assists in recruitment of study participants (e.g., identification/ screening, obtaining of consent, etc.)
- Assists in the planning, review, implementation and coordination of data collection and source documentation, as per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines
- Collects study data from participants or other sources in support of clinical and study- related decision-making, using pre-defined data collection tools (e.g. administering questionnaires, completing study worksheets, etc.) as per approved study protocol and authorized access.
- May assist in coordination of patient visits and schedule as per study protocol
- Interacts with participants to facilitate the completion of required research activities as per protocol and in collaboration with inter- professional team members, as needed.
- Performs sample collection, including venipuncture and processing and shipment of samples according to approved clinical research protocol
- Plans, designs and organizes scoring procedures and computer databases for ongoing and new research studies
- Coordinates necessary data flow both internally, as well as externally with collaborators from other sites
- May interpret results and prepare material for presentation, publication and/or grants
- Conducts literature searches/reviews for new proposals, as directed
- May provide support for monitoring/ audits and regulatory inspections
- May perform computer statistical analyses and generate response curves, status reports and other statistical reports, as required
Qualifications
- At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline
- At minimum, 1 to 2 years clinical and/or professional experience
- Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications, required
- Experience in depression or psychiatry research is an asset
- Experience writing clinical trial protocols and submitting them to Health Canada and Research Ethics Boards; knowledge of clinical research processes, regulatory requirements, and REB/IRB submissions is considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organizational, problem solving and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to changes in project direction
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and dependable with strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize your workload and the flexibility to adjust to changing work plans, schedules and deadlines
- Self-motivated team member with a demonstrated ability to show initiative
- Ability to interact with a range of health professionals and support staff, through exchange of information, consulting, problem solving and training as required
