Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Position Summary
The Clinical Director is a strategic and forward-thinking leader who plays a vital role within the hospital’s leadership team. Responsible for the oversight of administrative, operational, and patient care functions across designated clinical programs, this role is key to advancing high-quality, patient-centered care and optimizing clinical resources.
In close collaboration with Vice Presidents, Medical Directors, Division/Department Chiefs, and Directors of Practice and Programs, the Clinical Director ensures seamless coordination and integration of services across UHN and the broader healthcare community. They lead the development and execution of programmatic, organizational, and financial plans that align with UHN’s mission and strategic priorities.
Recognized for their visionary leadership and commitment to performance excellence, the Clinical Director inspires innovation and embraces transformation. They actively promote best practices in a cross-functional environment, building teams and strong partnerships internally and externally to support integrated care delivery.
This role requires exceptional time management and prioritization skills to navigate multiple demands and deadlines. Through effective decision-making and stakeholder engagement, the Clinical Director drives the achievement of strategic and operational goals while fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a health or business-related discipline is required.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing from a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act (e., College of Nurses of Ontario).
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with a background in acute and critical care.
- Has a minimum 5 years experience in financial management in complex health care portfolios.
- Strong understanding of acute care program management, with the ability to facilitate collaboration between clinical and support services.
- Experience in surgical care and services is considered a significant asset.
- Proven leadership in driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and effective fiscal management across a diverse portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of learning, innovation, accountability, and positive change.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and sustaining clinical practice standards and quality control measures.
- Advanced skills in collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution, and both human and financial resource management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a track record of building strong relationships with teams, leaders, physicians, community partners, academic institutions, and other healthcare programs and service providers.
- Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with colleagues to achieve shared goals. Values diverse perspectives, supports group decisions, and contributes to team success.
- Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats. Actively listens, adapts messaging to the audience, and ensures transparency and information sharing.
- Creativity: Brings forward innovative solutions and fresh approaches to problem-solving.
