Position Summary

As a member of the Interprofessional Genitourinary (GU) Radiation Oncology Team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions in an advanced practice role, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical expertise in managing the care and navigation of patients referred to the GU site at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. This role may evolve to include responsibilities across other clinical domains such as brachytherapy, radiotherapy, and systemic therapies—including radionuclide and theranostic approaches—as they relate to GU cancer management.

The successful candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge and skills, along with the ability to navigate ambiguity while helping to define and establish role clarity within the GU site team. This is a newly created position within the Radiation Medicine Program, and as such, responsibilities may evolve over time. However, the core principles of patient-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical excellence will remain central to the role. The NP will report directly to the Director of Professional Practice at Princess Margaret.

  • Apply a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and demonstrate advanced clinical competence in the care of patients with GU cancers.
  • Collect and interpret patient health histories, conduct relevant physical examinations, and lead discussions on the role of radiation therapy in GU cancer. Educate patients on potential treatment side effects and their management, address complex patient and family responses to illness, and provide follow-up and survivorship care.
  • Engage in academic and leadership activities, including leading or participating in research and quality improvement initiatives, orienting and mentoring new Nurse Practitioners and interprofessional team members, and participating in ongoing professional development.
