The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University Health Network is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Canada and a global leader in cancer research, education, and clinical care. Strategy and Transformation:
The Strategy and Transformation team acts as a point of contact for the Princess Margaret and liaises with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre programs and departments, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF), UHN programs and external stakeholders. This team is uniquely positioned to take a holistic view of the organization and is responsible for spearheading transformation, furthering strategic priorities and partnerships, and fostering accountability and stewardship for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
The Summer Student will be an integral member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network and Strategy and Transformation portfolios. Reporting to the Manager of Strategy and Transformation at The Princess Margaret, the student will be responsible for coordination of strategic projects, support for project planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation, and performing general/administrative responsibilities to contribute to the efficient functioning of the Network.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supports development and implementation of strategic initiatives
- Assists with coordination of project plans, such as: status reports, budgets, requirements gathering, workflow and process design, implementation, process oversight and analysis
- Assists with creation and distribution of briefing notes, presentation slides, project evaluations and reports for executive leadership, as well as key internal and external stakeholders
- Synthesizes information, interprets and uses critical thinking skills to draws conclusions that inform recommendations for high-level decision-making
- Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient coordination and completion of projects
- Booking & coordination of meetings as required, including capturing meeting minutes/outcomes, booking rooms, preparing meeting materials, etc.
- Preparing and/or collating presentations, and printing materials
- Aiding in the planning of visits & events
- Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
Qualifications
- Pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s Degree in a field related to health or health sciences
- Amenable to a hybrid working model (a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at the downtown Toronto office).
- Highly proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Works well under pressure without sacrificing quality, is a self-starter, detail-oriented, dependable, a problem solver, and is motivated to learn and improve
- Excellent critical thinking skills; ability to evaluate situations and make appropriate judgement calls
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders, senior leadership, and representatives from partner organizations.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills to draft clear, concise correspondence, as well as to respond to enquiries with tact, confidentiality, and discretion
- Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment
