Salary: $59, 904 - $74, 880 per annum: To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy

Position Summary
The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM), University Health Network (UHN), is the largest cancer centre in Canada, providing more patient visits and involving more cancer doctors and specialists than any other oncology centre in Canada. The Computational Biology and Medicine Program (CBMP) is home to scientists and clinicians interested in computational methods used to aggregate, analyze and share biomedical data for basic, translational and clinical research. Within CBMP, innovative computational methods and scientific software are being developed to investigate the biological processes involved in oncogenesis, cancer evolution and response to therapies. 

Duties

We are looking for a Program Coordinator to help grow the CBMP at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The Coordinator’s main roles will include:

  • Execute the vision and strategic action plans of the Program
  • Administer the Program funds, write institutional reports, and organize program meetings
  • Coordinate data and code sharing endeavors and a data and code sharing team
  • Catalogue and advertise the scientific strengths and resources (molecular assays, scientific software, research data, etc.) of the Program Members and across the institution
  • Organize program-wide training and workshop events, such as the annual program retreat.
  • Coordinate annual postdoctoral fellowship award program.
  • Manage and update online presence of the Program, including program website and social media accounts.
  • Coordinating applications for funding including drafting abstracts/letters, writing team grants, and ensuring timely submissions
  • Attend meetings to identify the most relevant collaborative opportunities

Qualifications

  • At minimum, Bachelor’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics or related discipline 
  • At minimum, 4 years of practical and related experience in computational genomics research
  • Five (5) years related office administration support experience required
  • Project management experience required
  • Experience managing and administering budgets, required 
  • Strong scientific writing skills, demonstrated through successful grant applications or scientific publications, required 
  • Experience in a Microsoft Office environment required
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  •  Experience working in a health care environment an asset
