Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $50, 669 - $71, 273 per annum: To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy
Shifts:
Monday - Friday 
Status: Temporary Full-time (2 years contract)

Position Summary
As a member of the Centre for Cancer Epigenomics at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Dr. Housheng Hansen He’s laboratory is currently seeking applications for a Research Technician. This is a two-years position with potential of renewal.

Duties
Duties and responsibilities include:

  • 50% on lab management:
    • reagent ordering
    • lab organization
    • biosafety certificate, REB and AUP application and renew.
    • Write project summary and SOP
  • 50% on routine wet lab work on molecular biology
    • cell culture, western blot
    • PCR and assist study of tumor xenograft in mice
    • Completing assigned workload to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory
    • demonstrating understanding of the operational theories/procedures and performance characteristics of instruments/equipment
    • efficient use of laboratory equipment and supplies
    • performing cross-functional duties as assigned, or requested
    • performing other duties related to and consistent with the job classification, as required.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a B.Sc. in molecular biology/cancer biology, or a related field
  • At minimum, 6 months of practical and related experience
  • Knowledge of epigenetics, genomics and genetics
  • Background in RNA biology and assays is an asset 
  • Experience in functional genomic screening, single-cell profiling and mouse work is an asset 
  • Demonstrated excellent publication record of scientific achievement (at least one first-author publication) 
  • Strong scientific writing and presentation skill 
  • Demonstrated record of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Self-motivated, independent and creative
