The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is Canada’s only post-secondary institution devoted exclusively to the applied health sciences professions. In January 2016 the Michener Institute integrated with the University Health Network, Canada’s largest and highly esteemed hospital network know for research-intensive. As such, the CVP program is also associated with Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and the Sprott Department of Surgery at the Toronto General Hospital that collectively employs the largest number of cardiovascular perfusionists and ECMO specialists in the country.

The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is actively seeking to hire a dynamic Professor in one of its flagship programs, Cardiovascular Perfusion (CVP). The CVP program is the largest and one of the very few programs in Canada training cardiovascular perfusionists. In 2021, Michener was approved by the government of Ontario to offer a Master of Science degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion to graduates – marking a historic achievement positioning Michener as the trailblazer in offering the first program in Canada to offer a graduate credential in this field. Although the primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to teach in the CVP Program, there may be opportunities to be engaged in clinical work and research at UHN. Job Description

This appointment provides the successful candidate with an exciting and dynamic opportunity to collaborate with colleagues to deliver the best experience and best education in CVP. This role will be expected to play a strong and leadership role in all aspects of course/program design, assessment, evaluation and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Perfusionist with a minimum of three years’ experience preferred
  • Currently certified by the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) or American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
  • Masters level education in Cardiovascular Perfusion or related discipline is a strong preference
  • Certification by and membership in relevant professional association
  • Demonstrated clinical experience and currency
  • Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire
