The Employer Partnership & Placement Specialist - MA is responsible for employment outcomes for Medical Assisting graduates. Develops employer relationships, generates job leads, and matches graduates to direct-hire opportunities. This role coordinates the placement process from outreach through hire. Maintains accurate, compliant employment records. Supports accreditation requirements, campus performance, and placement results.
Position will be based out of a Bay Area campus: Concord, Fremont, San Jose, or Hayward.
Job Description
Are you the kind of person who does not wait for the phone to ring? Good. We should talk.
Unitek Learning is looking for a highly driven Graduate Placement & Employer Development Specialist to help our Medical Assisting graduates launch their healthcare careers. This is not a sit-back-and-process-paperwork role. This is a build-the-pipeline, open-the-door, make-the-call, land-the-job-order, match-the-graduate, verify-the-hire kind of role.
In other words, if you have ever worked a recruiting desk, chased job orders, sourced employer partners, filled openings, and felt the sweet satisfaction of making a placement happen, you may have just found your next lane.
The Opportunity:
You will own employment outcomes for Medical Assisting graduates across assigned Bay Area and/or Sacramento-area campuses. Your job is to build strong employer partnerships with medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers, specialty practices, hospital systems, and other healthcare employers who need talent. You will spend time on campus and in the field. That means calls, emails, texts, in-person visits, networking, follow-up, and more follow-up. The glamorous stuff. The coffee-fueled stuff. The “I know exactly who you should interview” stuff.
Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It:
- Create and grow employer partnerships that lead to real hiring opportunities.
- Generate job leads and job orders for Medical Assisting graduates.
- Match graduates to open roles based on employer needs, graduate readiness, and likelihood of hire.
- Coach graduates on resumes, interviews, job search strategy, and professional follow-up.
- Move candidates through the hiring process, including resume submittals, interviews, offers, starts, and employment verification.
- Track activity, outcomes, employer development, and verified placements.
- Keep documentation accurate, complete, and audit-ready because results matter, but compliance still gets a seat at the table.
The Scoreboard:
This role is driven by outcomes. We measure activity, pipeline movement, employer development, and verified graduate employment. The goal is clear; help our Medical Assisting graduates get hired and help campuses meet or exceed employment rates of 70% or higher for each reporting year. You will know where your pipeline stands. You will know which employers are hiring. You will know which graduates are ready. You will know where the bottlenecks are, and you will not wait around hoping someone else fixes them.
Who Will Crush This Role?:
- You do not need someone standing over your shoulder to tell you what needs to happen next. You see the goal, you build the plan, make the calls, follow the lead, close the loop and keep moving until the outcome is real.
- A former staffing agency recruiter who misses the thrill of making placements happen.
- A business development or sales-minded professional who knows how to build relationships and create opportunity.
- A self-starter who does not need someone hovering nearby with a checklist and a motivational mug.
- Comfortable with cold outreach, field visits, and employer conversations.
- Motivated by goals, metrics, urgency, and results.
- Organized enough to document your work and persistent enough to keep the pipeline moving.
- Passionate about helping graduates turn training into employment.
The Experience That Gets Our Attention:
- Three or more years of experience in staffing, recruiting, business development, workforce placement, sales, career services, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a staffing agency, recruiting desk, placement firm, or other high-activity, outcome-driven environment is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to generate leads, build relationships, match candidates to opportunities, and produce hires or placements.
- Strong communication, follow-up, organization, and relationship management skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office. Experience with PowerBI, CampusVue/CampusNexus, ATS, CRM, or similar tracking systems is a plus, but we can train you on industry specific software.
- Knowledge of healthcare hiring, allied health, outpatient clinics, or medical office environments is helpful, but we can teach healthcare. We need someone who already knows how to hustle with purpose.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current insurance are required. This role includes regular in-person employer outreach and regional travel.
A Quick Reality Check:
This is an hourly, non-exempt role and is not commission-based. Mileage is reimbursed for employer partnership development activities. That said, the people who thrive here often come from commission-minded environments because they know how to create momentum, own their pipeline, and drive results without waiting for permission. The difference? Here, you get to use that same recruiter/sales muscle with more consistency, more purpose, and fewer “please let this commission check hit before rent is due” moments.
If you need a quiet inbox, a predictable day, and someone to hand you warm leads, this may not be your dream job.
If you like building something, owning your outcomes, and helping graduates walk into the healthcare careers they worked hard for while helping solve healthcare worker shortages in the communities we serve, this role has your name all over it.
The Bigger Win:
Our graduates are ready to work. Healthcare employers need talent. Your job is to connect the two with urgency, strategy, and a little bit of grit. You will not just fill openings. You will help launch healthcare careers, strengthen employer pipelines, and make sure our graduates get a real shot at the opportunities they worked hard to earn. And yes, we are absolutely trying to build the strongest Medical Assisting placement engine in the market. World domination may be a stretch, but only because HR makes us use professional language.
