Job Description

The Regional Associate Dean will have:

  • Academic oversight for assigned School-in-a-Box Nursing sites;
  • Collaborate with Director of Nursing Academic Services to provide a seamless academic experience for our students and healthcare partners;
  • Assist the Vice President of Nursing Academic Services, Workforce Development with special project implementation; and
  • Work with and functions under the supervision of the Vice President of Nursing Academic Services, Workforce Development

Job Responsibilities:

  • Defines all relevant aspects of blended-learning instruction;
  • Maintains all course policies and procedures governing blended-learning instruction;
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and coaching faculty teaching blended-learning or online-only courses;
  • Provides oversight and mentoring for all online didactic faculty and Directors of Nursing Academic Services;
  • Assures compliance with federal and state requirements for in and out-of-state online and/or blended-learning operations;
  • Remains current in the application of emerging instructional technologies;
  • Participates in faculty training through Web-based environments (such as video tutorials), videoconference, desktop sharing media, phone, email or face-to-face contact on a scheduled, or impromptu (schedule permitting), basis;
  • Contributes to student orientation by providing objectives and content related to the learning management system, email, videoconferencing, library research, other relevant digital resources and policies that impact their participation in the online curriculum;
  • Communicates with Unitek Learning technical staff to troubleshoot technical issues incurred by faculty, students and support staff that inhibit teaching and learning in the remote format;
  • Reviews all blended-learning and online courses periodically to ensure consistency with on-ground courses;
  • Collaborates with faculty, Instructional Design, and SMEs in the design of class websites, incorporating the appropriate use of technologies to maximize interaction; for example, effective use of feeds and peer review features of asynchronous tools, student-instructor direct communication, student-student collaboration environments, learning management communication tools (e.g., journals, wikis, electronic white boards), other third-party applications;
  • Understands and implements strategies to support students with disabilities;
  • Supports the distribution of student course and faculty evaluations to students and the distribution of evaluation results to faculty;
  • Participates in weekly At-Risk meetings led by the site DNAS;
  • Reports course concerns, attrition, and retention to the Vice President of Nursing Academic Services, Workforce Development;
  • Serves as the escalation point for healthcare partners when concerns are unresolved at the site level;
  • Participates in minimum quarterly healthcare partnership meetings;
  • Works with site DNAS to ensure that all necessary clinical spots are obtained;
  • Assists DNAS to maintain proper staffing levels based on state, partner, and course guidelines;
  • Monitors quarterly NCLEX results and develops a plan of correction (if necessary) with the DNAS;
  • Reports additional staffing needs to the Vice President of Nursing Academic Services, Workforce Development for approval;
  • Prepares and maintains annual budget for assigned SIB sites and UTH sites if applicable;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current valid and clear California Registered Nursing License or eligible within 6 months of hire; AND multi-state Compact licensure;
  • A master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration;
  • A minimum of one year teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs (associate, baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral);
  • Two year’s continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the applicable Board of Nursing;
  • Experience in a blended learning pre-licensure nursing program;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Committed to diversity, as defined by the California law;

  • Leadership style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, & facilitation;
  • Demonstrate proficiency with technology (MS Teams, Zoom, Learning Management Systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams;
  • Experience in supervision, planning, budget preparation in program maintenance.
  • Preferred Experience: minimum of five years progressive leadership experience in higher education.
  • And at least one (1) year full-time of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in nursing facility (also long-term care facility).
  • If applicable. candidates must be pre-approved by CDPH. The approval process will be handled by Unitek.
