Job Description

The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the daily operations of payroll and payroll related accounting functions in a timely and professional manner, and in compliance with State and Federal regulations.

* Please note this position will be working 8am-5pm PST.

  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of payroll staff
  • Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements
  • Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
  • Direct the preparation of payroll related documents in multi-state environment
  • Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
  • Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
  • Monitor the accurate processing of staff appointments, transfers, promotions and terminations
  • Prepare and review payroll benefit and account reconciliations; respond to questions regarding variances; resolve outstanding issues
  • Prepare bi-weekly and monthly payroll journal entries; review and record monthly PTO and Vacation accrual; prepare monthly benefit journal entries
  • Assist with month-end accounting close
  • Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
  • Oversee the maintenance of current employee payroll data systems; ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements; manage and resolve issues relating to payroll processing
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Partner with HR and Benefits in aligning and implementing future HRIS system
  • Communicate actively with operations, HR and Benefits to ensure efficiency and workflow related activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Starting at $75k

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the area of accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.
  • 7+ years increasingly responsible professional accounting/payroll experience
  • 2-3 years management/supervisory experience
  • Ability to work 8am-5pm PST
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll principles, methods, systems, and procedures
  • Knowledge of all relevant payroll, employment, and income tax laws, regulations
  • Knowledge of the payroll aspects of employee benefits policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of and the ability to utilize and manage automated payroll and/or human resources information systems (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with multi-company entities and inter-company transactions
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and well-developed time management skills
