Job Description

The Compensation Specialist will provide professional guidance and support to the Human Resources team. Administers and maintains various compensation-related data management, and coordinates and facilitates implementation of corporate-level compensation programs and initiatives. Provides advice, training, and support in the application of compensation management, guidelines, procedures, and best practices.

The position’s key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain Unitek’s job framework and compensation programs.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources team in the analysis and review of job classification and reclassification requests; quality controls the job classification process for both existing positions and newly created positions, performing job audits as appropriate.
  • Work with Finance and annual Campus and Corporate budgets.
  • Meet with Salary Committee regularly to discuss and seek approval on unbudgeted positions and approval on positions out of range.
  • Research and analyze competitive compensation practices in the job market; participates in compensation surveys.
  • Provide training and instruction to Human Resources team and leaders in the day-to-day application of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Consult with HR systems analysts regarding problems with programming and data integrity, and makes recommendations for system enhancements.
  • Oversee the career ladder process among assigned constituencies to ensure overall consistency and appropriateness of application, and compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist and collaborate in the planning, coordination, facilitation, administration, and reporting of the annual salary review program for regular staff employees.
  • Act as a primary point of contact and consultation for Human Resources and leadership, on job classification and reclassification and associated compensation issues.
  • Performs Human Resources duties as assigned.

Pay Starting at $38/hr+

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 plus years of compensation experience
  • Needs to be able to work 8am-5pm PST
  • Position requires: a) use of expertise in job analysis and job evaluation and knowledge of organization structure to audit and classify staff positions at all levels; b) analyzing and reporting on compensation surveys; c) interaction and advisement on sensitive issues with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization; d) preparation of accurate job descriptions for multiple uses; e) participation in the development and delivery of presentations and training programs
  • Highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines, or as a team member
