Company Description

 

The Union County Supervisor of Assessments oversees real property assessment process through the County; ensuring implementation within the law that was enacted by the Illinois General Assembly and Court decisions. 

Job Description

Identify, update and maintain property record cards and assessments for all taxable and nontaxable parcels of real estate in the county

Update and maintain information on mobile homes which are taxed under the Mobile Home Local Services Act (Privilege Tax)

Maintains County tax maps

Maintain property ownership and address changes Complete all PTAX-203 forms recorded with deeds and forward to the Department of Revenue

Maintain all homestead and non-homestead exemptions

Manages the notification of assessment changes to taxpayers and publishes assessments in newspapers

Works under the directives of the Department of Revenue and provides them with information

Serves as the Clerk of the County Board of Review to ensure Board of Review actions, decision, notices, publications and complaints are processed in a timely manner and have met the statutory requirements

Qualifications

Must possess one of the following qualifications as certified by the Department of Revenue:

  • An active Certified Illinois Assessing Officer designation from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute
  • An active AAS, CAE or MAS designation
  • An active MAI, SREA, SRPA, SRA or RM designation from the Appraisal Institute

Must have had at least 2 years' experience in the field of property sales, assessments, finance or appraisals and must have passed an examination conducted by the Department of Revenue to determine his/her competence to hold the office.

Full time position 

FLSA Status - Exempt

Annual salary range $70,000.00 - 73,000.00 based on experience and qualifications

15 paid company holidays

Accrual of 20 days vacation each fiscal year

Accrual of 12 sick days each fiscal year
