Job Description

At Uncommon Schools, finding exceptional people is one of the most important ways we advance our mission of preparing students to graduate from college, succeed in a competitive world, and serve as the next generation of leaders. As a Talent Recruiter, you will help attract and engage talented educators and school-based professionals who are passionate about making a difference for students. You'll partner closely with school leaders and colleagues across the Talent Recruitment team to build strong candidate pipelines, guide candidates through the early stages of the hiring process, and create an outstanding candidate experience. This role combines relationship-building, strategic outreach, and data-informed decision-making to support hiring across our Rochester schools while strengthening Uncommon's long-term talent network.

Responsibilities

Talent Outreach & Candidate Recruitment

  • Lead outreach strategies to attract diverse, high-quality candidates for instructional, school operations, and support roles across assigned schools.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective candidates through proactive outreach and ongoing engagement.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for candidates, introducing them to Uncommon Schools' mission, culture, and career opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and national colleges, universities, professional organizations, and community networks to expand candidate pipelines.

Candidate Assessment & Experience

  • Review resumes and assess candidates' experience and qualifications to identify those who align with role requirements and school needs.
  • Advance qualified candidates through the recruiting process while providing timely communication and support.
  • Deliver a welcoming, organized, and engaging experience from initial outreach through application.
  • Clearly communicate role expectations and answer candidate questions throughout the recruiting process.

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with principals, school operations leaders, instructional leaders, and other stakeholders to align recruiting efforts with hiring priorities.
  • Collaborate with Talent Recruitment colleagues to develop outreach strategies and share ideas for attracting strong candidates.
  • Support recruiting events and selection activities, including immersion days and other hiring events, as needed.
  • Provide recruiting support across additional hiring workstreams during periods of increased hiring activity, staff leave, or other business needs.

Data, Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Track recruiting progress and use data to identify trends, monitor pipeline health, and adjust outreach strategies.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting records and recruiting workflows throughout the hiring process.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes and increase efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects and other Talent Recruitment initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of relevant recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, education, nonprofit, operations, or relationship management experience.
  • Experience building relationships with a variety of stakeholders and providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort using data to monitor progress and inform decisions.
  • Ability to travel to recruiting events, schools, and partner organizations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience recruiting for education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience partnering with hiring managers or school leaders throughout the recruiting process.
  • Experience supporting high-volume recruiting or managing multiple open positions simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with building relationships with colleges, universities, or professional organizations to support recruiting efforts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during recruiting events.
  • Ability to set up recruiting materials and carry items weighing up to 20–40 pounds when attending career fairs and hiring events.

Compensation:  

The full compensation range for this role is $63,800–$75,100.

Typically, new hires who fully meet the qualifications and experience expectations for the role will start at or near $67,600.

Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.

Compensation determinations consider relevant experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.

Work Environment

Uncommon is an in-person organization, with a commitment of at least three days each week at our Rochester office with travel.
