Job Description

As a member of Uncommon’s IT Support team, the ITSupport Manager will own workstreams that will help ensure the Team achieves its goals and objectives. Beyond technical knowledge, the IT Support Manager must have strong change management, planning, and communication skills in order to manage technology and processes at Uncommon’s scale and high standard. Star team members are focused, self-driven, fast, hold themselves and their work to a high standard, and own processes end to end. The IT Support Manager will report to the Director of IT, Support.

Relationship Management: Oversee successful processes and best practices for all ITSupport team members to build and maintain relationships with School Operations staff 

  • Relationship/Use Case Management: Be the face of the D&IT Team, and the bridge between the D&IT Team and schools; deeply understand stakeholders’ goals and use cases for all ITSupport products and processes
  • Trendspotting: Understand trends in the region and facilitate problem-solving 
  • Alignment: Communicate & execute on opportunities for grade level or regional alignment, streamlining, and general improvement.
  • Troubleshoot: Work with Product Owners to troubleshoot Tier 3 issues
  • Rollout: Work closely with Product Management Teams to collaborate on the roll-out and support of any new technology platforms and any data integration work
  • Partner with regionally-based RSO, school-based Directors of Operations

Tier 3 Data Expertise: Leads data analysis and management for the IT Support Team by:

  • Efficient and Effective Root Cause Analysis: By quickly assessing and scoping problems, to determine root cause quickly before making recommendation on next steps
  • Data transformation and manipulation:  Applies knowledge of data structures  to Uncommon systems (PowerSchool, Illuminate, SchoolMint, etc.) to assist with troubleshooting 
  • Data Management: Understands databases, how data elements are related to one another 

Process Management: Manage key processes between D&IT and school-staff, including Report Cards/Progress Reports, HS Scheduling, Data Audits, HS Scheduling 

  • Build/Maintain Process: Ensure there is a robust process plan in place to manage the work, update process after each cycle 
  • Train ITSupport and School Staff: Build training materials/train internal and external teams on how to complete work
  • Communicate: Build and execute communication plans for all work - including written guidance and verbal presentations 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required

Experience Requirements:

  • 6+ years of working experience
  • 3-4 years of directly related work experience
  • 4+ years of experience with a Student Information System (SIS) and assessment platform
  • 2 -3 years experience in a technical customer service role
  • 1+ year troubleshooting complex data flows and technical issues in a technology ecosystem
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and how to use data dictionaries to understand data structures
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Applications (Pivot tables, Vlookup,Sheets, Forms, etc.)

Compensation for this position:  The starting compensation for this role based in New York City is between $91,300-$107,400 and generally, we expect that qualified candidates in this location will be made an offer between $91,300 and $96,700. The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, certifications, tenure with Uncommon Schools, and work location.  Because one of the things that we value is staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges.  Please note: ranges may differ for staff who work from a location other than New York City.
