Job Description

The purpose of our Content Development Team is to identify, codify, and disseminate best instructional practices to all Uncommon educators, primarily through our professional development and working groups. This role drives the operational planning, execution, and evolution of our professional development offerings to our instructional leaders. In addition, it plays a key role in managing team systems to ensure the team is enhancing efficiency. We collaborate widely across the organization, building relationships with and providing targeted feedback to teachers, school leaders, and content experts!

Cross-Regional Leadership PDs 

  • Project manages cross-regional leadership PDs for Principals, New Principals, and DCI PDs to ensure leaders receive the best PDs possible.
  • Build and independently maintain comprehensive, strategic project plans that ensure all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently including workstreams such as facilitator support, venue/vendor management, cost-effective budgeting, organizing and disseminating materials (digital and print), communication, etc.
  • All of our PDs are unique; anticipate problems and generate solutions
  • Proactively engage in reflection to ensure a consistently high bar; update systems to reflect takeaways
  • Partner and manage relationships with external vendors; secure spaces for all PDs
  • Ensure timely, clear, and efficient communications with attendees and school leaders
  • Manage the budget

Working Groups

  • Collaborate with the instruction team to independently complete excellent day-of operations for Working Groups
  • Proactively create and update cross-functional resources to ensure the team is working as effectively and efficiently as possible
  • Secure spaces that reflect each Working Groups need

Retreats 

  • Work with the Sr Manager to support the development and thought leadership for retreat visions, inclusive of the cultural and operational plans.
  • Develop and plan logistics of two annual multi-day organization-wide leadership retreats in March and July with 200+ participants
  • Reflect on retreat goals and develop ideas to help team achieve goals
  • Partner and manage external vendors and facilitators to ensure the highest quality outcomes of retreats

Team Systems & Operations

  • Partner to ensure the team calendar is kept updated with key network and regional happenings
  • Keep a pulse on cross-functional workstreams and partner with instructional team members in order to understand glows and grows and what systems can be created and revised to support team efficiency
  • Presents feedback on team systems to ensure details are well completed
  • Engage in “all hands” needs as team needs arise
  • Support the operations of Instructional Inspections

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

  • 3-5 years of experience in leading high-quality events/workshops
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects with excellent attention to detail, seamlessly zooming in and out to the big picture
  • Problem-solving team player, with the ability to be extremely effective independently as well
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to provide outstanding service to school teams

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Events and school visits may occur in buildings with limited elevator accessibility and require moving and lifting items, up to 20 pounds.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is based out of our offices in Manhattan with a hybrid schedule, but frequent travel is required to schools and other office sites throughout all of our regions.

Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role based in New York is between $57,800 to $68,000 and generally, we expect that qualified candidates in this location will be made an offer between $57,800 and $61,200. The starting pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. Because we value staff staying in their roles over time, we do not currently cap salary ranges.
