Job Description

The Senior Manager is responsible for directing, planning, and administering the day-to-day operations of the operations team for a 2,000+ employee organization operating in several states. The Senior Manager will manage 3-4 direct reports at the Manager, Associate and Coordinator levels.


The Senior Manager will be a partner to the HR Leadership team, under the umbrella of the Uncommon Schools Talent Team, providing data-driven, financial,  policy driven and enterprise-wide strategic direction and  recommendations resulting in exemplary operational and customer service across the organization. Incumbent will also be responsible for designing the strategies, operations, and communications to facilitate excellent customer service for employees and delivery of quality feedback driven plans across the organization. 

Core Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Lead the near and long-term strategic planning efforts across the team
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy and implementation plan to scale HR operations for our growing, multi-site organization.
  • Collaborates with home office teams to design and implement a coordinated and seamless approach to serve schools.
  • Lead process documentation, improvement, and re-design for the team, with a particular focus on leveraging enhancements made possible by our new HRIS, Workday.
  • Provide expert counsel to regional and school leaders on consistent interpretation and application of policies and processes.
  • Lead communications, support and relationship management with regional leaders to ensure sound HR processes are implemented and followed.
  • Serve as an outstanding role model as a leader and manager, investing deeply in supporting and developing HR team members and growing their subject matter expertise.
  • Establish team performance metrics and individual staff goals to ensure excellent customer service to our employees.

Preferred 

  • Broad knowledge of human resources policies and procedures and their application in the day-to-day working environment.
  • Experience in designing and scaling HR operations to support multi-site organizations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state (NY, NJ, and/or MA) regulations related to administration of HR operations and data system
  • Familiarity with Workday HCM and it’s impact on HR operations teams and or employee/manager self service.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • SHRM certification preferred, not required
